Isn't there any current tool for emulators that would avoid having to boot that tool?

EDIT: I completely misunderstood that shenhaZ was playing on the console.
Anyway, maybe this has been discussed extensively, and I did not even try it myself, but info around the internet suggest that this should work for NTSC->PAL save conversion on a raw save file/dump:

1. Get an HexEditor (HxD, for example: https://mh-nexus.de/en/downloads.php?product=HxD)
2. Open the VM save file and go to (CTRL+G) offset 18883 and change the 3 bytes to 45 0E 01
3. Next, go to (CTRL+G) offset 18889 and change the byte to 58
4. Save the changes
5. Get and open VMU Explorer (http://bswirl.kitsunet.org/outil/pc/?lg=fr&menu=on)
6. Load your edited VM save, column with CRC16 should appear in red, right-click and select 'Fix CRC'
7. Go to menu 'File > Save VM', click 'Yes'
8. Try loading the new save

I tried similar FAQ http://bswirl.kitsunet.org/vmutool/rele ... _shen2.php
looks like it works only for completed game save, someone mention it in old forum post

It would make little sense to load a savegame that was not complete. Unless you're talking about converting the save to keep playing Shenmue 1 of a different region, in which case I doubt it isn't easily feasible. Maybe I'll look into it and see what it may take to do it.

EDIT: I was so wrong :)
The save scheme seems way more convoluted that I assumed, a single byte is left unchanged and the save won't load on another region, even with proper CRC fix. Must have it's own CRC on top. No luck on my end.

Hi guys, i haven't been here in a while and I noticed people asking for the CD-R 80 version. I still have the original zip files for these I believe, so if someone needs me to put them somewhere PM me.

Also I haven't tried burning the CD-R99 version again since it failed constantly a few years ago and i wasted 3 discs. What are the best programs and settings to use for this?

Hey there. Never played Shenmue before and I guess it's about time. After learning of the whole language clusterfuck between different games and consoles, I guess this version here is probably the right one to start with. Because I'm a japanophile, and because I don't want to be forced to switch languages mid-series.

If I understood correctly after reading the whole thread, this version works fine, can be played from start to end and won't fry your laser (I intend to play it on an actual DC). Anyway, I'm surprised nobody else volunteered to translate the remaining Japanese text, so if Kogami's interested, I'd be willing to give it a shot. We're so close to having a full undub to preserve for the ages (in case Sega are dumb enough to still not re-release the first two games when the third one comes), it'd be a shame not to try and finish it up. I'd need someone who's familiar with the game to provide some guidance and context info, but otherwise it seems feasible.

Also, if anyone still has some of those CD-R99 thingies left and could burn this for me (which will probably be faster than trying to find them myself, ensure they are not shit quality like mosts discs today and then trying to find out if my burner can do the deed), I'd definitely like to hear from them.

Welcome to the forum, and happy to hear you are keen to play!

While I can't help regarding the disc burning, I wanted to reply to this part:

Thanks for offering - happily (although it hasn't been publicly announced) I can confirm that translation of the remaining Japanese lines has been quietly completed on over the past few months and it's now at the testing stage. I'm not sure exactly when it will be released, but it is on its way.

Shenmue Undub [PAL-E] .GDI for GDEMU/USB-GDROM/Emulator:

And used in nulldc

From the main menu screen (before starting/continuing a game), go to Options -> Dialog & Text and select "Game Mode".

So in preparation of the new release... has anyone found a source of 99/100 minute cd-rs that work well? Besides the ones Nico0020 gets in Japan.

There is a glimmer of hope with respect to this: as part of the project work is being done on attempting to fit the revised Undub onto standard CD-Rs, while maintaining the original audio quality.

I definitely don't wanna put any pressure on you guys, but is there an estimated time of delivery for this, however nebulous it may be? Because so far all the CD-R 99s I've managed to find have turned out to be utter shite, and I may be about to give up and play the original instead :???:.

Here's a quick update on the project status: the project team has recently succeeded in creating full-audio game images that fit onto 80-minute CD-Rs. After some final minor development work these will soon be put through a period of beta testing on real hardware to make sure they work as expected.

About a delivery estimate: it's not possible to be specific yet. At its broadest - definitely within 2018 and before Shenmue III! It will largely come down to whether any major issues arise during beta testing. If it goes smoothly then within the first half of the year should be realistic.

This is sounding great Switch, thanks to you and the team!

Two questions for you; you mention that the game should be able to fit on 80min CDRs with full audio, does this full audio mean there will be no degradation in audio quality or must there be come loss in compression, and also will there need to be any compressing of textures in getting this to 80min CDRs?

So will to 80min CDR version have the same audio and graphic fidelity as the retail release?

Yes, the goal is to fit the Undub onto standard discs with identical audio & textures to the original game.
