Hi all,

I am making this thread to house my new mod I am currently working on.

I call it the Forklift Mod.

I am currently making it possible to drive the forklift through Dobuita.

This is where I am at with my work:

Release: Xiaopang Complete Shenmue 1
Method: Swapped maps, hex edit to ECAM
Workflow: Create save file placing Ryo in lunch hour just before he reloads back into the forklift
Game engine loads forklift and swapped map.
Ryo can ride everywhere

I am still working on getting the map swapped, while retaining the dobuita NPCs. Once I finish that, I will post my results.

Why am I making this? I always wanted to have ryo obnoxiously beep his horn down dobuita's main street at night. LOL

I will make sure to reelease it here along with the method. Although it is pretty easy to decompile what has to be done.

Thanks! The bike mod is still being worked on, despite the issues I am always running into with it. But I'm not giving up.

This mod is taking priority though, just so I can get it out of the way.

As of right now, this is only for Dobuita. The way the mod is done, the engine thinks it is still loading the harbour despite the map being switched.

You could theoretically do the same for Yamanose, but I'll leave that up to the community once I get Dobuita working properly.

You cannot go into any doors, it is only possible to drive outside currently.






QUESTION!
Does anyone know how to get Shenmue 1 to treat a CONTINUE save file as a normal save file? Right now, the hacked save deletes itself everytime you use the mod.

Is it even possible?

You should try the debug version of the game. With the debug menu (controlled by a second controller in port D) you can save anytime, even during cutscenes! And it creates regular saves that you can reload as much as you want.
I has some limits e.g. when you load it will place you at the entrance point of the area you saved in but otherwise it works like a charm.

Thanks for the reminder! I forgot about that secondary menu. I have the images for the beta so ill def do that.

Any chance you know if the beta makes a save playable on a NTSC burnt copy?

I know the beta released is ntsc but idk if the DC sees it with the same unique identifier as the retail version.

BTW, shengoro86 if a Jump hack for Shenmue II could be done, what would that entail? Just an animation? Or would you actually be able to jump on ledges and then step down? Or would you stay in the air like the Shenmue I glitch?

I just want to step on the fountain like wang did. :lol:

My guess is that he will just float into the air and get stuck.

But that all depends on what code is still on the disc.


BTW I got the map swapped, harbour is now dobuita and I got the npcs to work from dobuita too!

Bootmake kept failing on me, but rehacking the ip.bin did the trick.


Now I just need a save file to test with and thats that.

CONFIRMED:
The harbour is multiple maps.

So I swapped the two maps:
MFSY with D000

I tested this swap on the beta and it worked fine when just exploring the harbour.

However, in the retail version, when driving the forklift both during work and during the morning race... it is still the harbour.

Does this game use different maps for when ur just walking around the harbour and when ur driving the forklift?

Wouldnt surprise me if they were two totallly different maps.

Thoughts?

[I wonder if it is possible to make the game think it still loading the event when Ryo's riding the motorcycle (also with the timer turned off / not ticking down) and the map being switched to Dobuita's or the Harbour's.]
