Shenmue Opening - Cinematic Edition

This is something I've wanted to so for a long time actually. A combination of good widescreen footage from nullDC and the improved sound from the Movie DVD to create the best Shenmue experience.

How it was done:
This was recorded in nullDC running at 2104x1184 with SweetFX's vibrance reduction and film grain enhancements and then cropped to 1080p in order to reduce the visible clipping at the sides of the screen. Then the sound from the Shenmue The Movie DVD was synced to the video in order to get higher quality voices and better sound mixing.

ugh , ive seen this intro thousands of times , lol The shenmue 'movie' was the most poorly captured and edited thing EVER, personally I'd love to reanimate the whole thing , I also think its a shame there was no funeral scene , just seems like Ryo went to bed for 4 days .. lol

That would be the ultimate goal... But replicating everything like it's shown there would be a nightmare.
Fights have to be just like in the movie, weather has to match, some camera-hacking is needed and whatnot.
The only thing that's easy is getting rid of the HUD. And then there's a lot of editing needed so the footage matches the new sound.

I made the same thing with the Japanese dub just now.

Of course this was done from scratch again and recorded from the Japanese version of the game. Audio comes from the Japanese retail DVD. This time I did some Pan & Scan for each scene to reduce the visible clipping even more or to have things to fit better into the frame. The final scene with the mirrors, wich was captured in 4:3 because glitches make 16:9 unwatchable, has been zoomed to fit the screen this time. I decided against it in the previous video but it turns out that it works much better then I thought.
