Banana Digital 99min CD-Rs are a waste... HDD Loading?

Postby SonikSky » Wed Mar 04, 2015 3:29 pm

I know we've all been aware of the problems wit these 99min CD-Rs, I just wanted to say that within the last couple weeks my buddy ordered a batch and the whole thing was bad. The discs just simply didn't even work in anyway.

Just trying to save others from making that purchase. It seems that all the 99min CD-Rs are just complete garbage right now and they may be a thing of the past at this point.

But on the bright side, I've seen a lot of talk of booting DC games from a HDD or USB/SD card kinda stuff. But I think the guy making the hardware mods for it only does it in small batches.

If anyone has more info on this method, feel free to chime in.

I have a GDEMU in one of my Dreamcasts and it's a fantastic device. I've been doing a lot of Shenmue mods lately and this thing saved me a lot of time, hassle and money not having to deal with CD-R's.

These devices are the future of the Dreamcast and I really hope that they can be produced cheaper and at a larger scale so many more people get a chance to buy these and enjoy their revived and better then ever Dreamcasts.

I got one of them serial port SD card readers, I haven't played anything off it other than a poorly made SD ISO of Project Justice, I got it from here http://dc-sd.com/, this guy(s) located in China and it took almost 2 months to get it which makes me think they're homemade.

The banana ones are no good, but I just received a pack of 'number' 99min CDs from taobao (using yoybuy as the agent) and they work great, I burned the 99min English shenmue 2 with no problems, so I really recommend them!

I second that! Share the wealth! Even if I could purchase a handful of 99-Min CD-Rs from you. That would be amazing. Would you be interested in getting rid of a few? Maybe 8-12?

They only come in a pack of 10 anyway, copy and paste the above link into yoybuy.com and you're good to go!

A dreamcast USB loader is in the works.
Its like the GDEmu but it takes a USB stick.

Hate to rain on your parade, but that project moves slow or it's quite old already, with no updates nor production dates.

Hello gentlemen.

Has anyone tried MediaRange branded 900MB discs before?
I've just found some on ebay at a reasonable price. Be good to get a heads up before I buy a load of shit.... again!

EDIT: Done a little research this morning, and it seems like they are not a very good option.
Many people have said that they work to some degree on the Dreamcast's Yamaha drives, but not the Samsung models. I have the latter.

The hunt continues

Can anyone help me out in the purchasing of those number discs from taoboa. I cant figure out the checkout page because it's not fully translated.

BTW Banana Digital Discs outside of DealExtreme from sites such as (airyear(china)) are also bad do not buy them.
