Wow, sorry, I patched the .xbe from the spanish translated version,

I'll try to fix that and upload an english version.

There is nothing I can do about geometry disappearing outside the 4:3 area, sorry. except maybe, crop the fov area, but this would result in a very tiny field of view.

About the game running 720p it should be possible, I tried to hex edit the game to do so, ( there is also a fantastic tool for that made by MarvelousMirth) that allows to jump the internal resolution higher than the developers intended to but the end result is the same, the game hangs at the first loading screen, we are missing something.

Some Sega games for the xbox are actually patchable to run at 720p on XBox,
Gun Valkirye. (playable)


Jet set Radio Future. (heavy slowdowns)


But as said Shenmue II refuses to start after patching the resolution, at least on my console.

I could provide you with an "all English" PAL default.xbe, if you'd like (from the Japanese un-dubbed version, also found on this site). So you can maybe patch it easier.

As long as you have a hacked 360, yes it is possible.

works fine on xbox 360 if you select 480p or 1280x1024 on video mode, i have spanish version, this game isn´t perfect emulated, but is cool to play it with widescreen.

gives the same result like using OgXHD, with clipping.

This change only sets the aspect ratio for anamorphic widescreen, however it does not remove the black bars, so I've added that hack as well (i don't know if you need to recalc XBE CRC or anything, i just modified the one byte needed in the code area, boots and works on my homebrew 360) : https://files.sshnuke.net/Shenmue2X_WideNoBars.7z

Didn't replay through the entire game yet to see if it does it for all cutscenes, it should though.
The black bars were really annoying on xbox360 because the bottom-most line of the display is not occluded by them (and you can see it if you don't have overscan/are using a monitor), so I'm glad to have gotten rid of them.

Now it'd be great if someone can figure out a way to port the "better clipping" version of the dreamcast widescreen mod to xbox, so that we get both no clipping on the sides and the correct cinematic aspect ratio now that the black bars have been removed.

I haven't tested it personally but by the looks of it it seems it is a perfect widescreen hack.
