Sorry to hear about that. When I have time and feel like doing it, I can just find a good place to inject some extra code and give you the bytes to patch in 1ST_READ for it. It's going to end up being very simple like the save hack I posted in the other thread, I just need to find somewhere safe to patch it in.

I spent a lot of time on Saturday trying to resolve the geometry issues with ultimately no real progress and kind of got bored for trying for the moment. I did figure out how to cause even less geometry (pop-in with standard 4x3) but it's not entirely clear what was affected because I intentionally broke one of the calculations responsible for setting the view up. That's why on Sunday I made the save file import hack instead. :-)

In my original post on Assembler, I updated it to provide 3 versions of the code. I prefer the original because my TV has small black borders on both sides like the video at the beginning of this thread, but the true 16x9 and "DVD res" versions are there for those who prefer them.


It's all good. lol I had some heart issues recently and it came back.

I am working on a new Shenmue Explore Mod anyways for Shenmue 2 DC right now so I'll just work on that.

Any progress yet on completely getting rid of x-axis culling on the widescreen edges? The videos still show some culling so far, as do they when I've tried it with Null DC cheater.

I don't think anyone is working on it at the moment. I took a break to write an SH-4 plug-in for the disassembler that I use, because it should help me trace the game better.

Another good one is to be able to edit the CPU timer or change it for text and speech calibration for overclocked dreamcasts. Shenmue 2 already flys on an OC dreamcast, but with the widescreen hack it could be even more demanding especially when pop-ins also might be able to be fixed.

I wish I could do these things myself too.

Does that mean that snow appears only when appropriate or is there gonna be snow all the time?

It's not about activating the snow. The thing about this widescreen code is that the snow flakes will be visable on the entire screen as opposed to how they only fall in a 4:3 frame in the 16:9 window with nullDC running in extra geometry widescreen. The edges of the screen don't have falling snow there.

It is wonderful seeing that they're are working on a lot of games! Soul Calibur looks wonderful at 16:9!
I would like to see they do that to Rez and MvC2! Or at least put a tutorial for the community in general test and do more research. I would say that if my login there had the clearance.
