Finally had a chance to try this out for Demul! Though loading the cheat file posted above doesn't show anything for example in my screenshot. Running a US GDI rip. Does the same thing for a Pal rip. Note the background being black in Cheat Engine is due to me using a high contrast theme this isn't the cause as I have the same problem with the default Windows 10 theme. Tried with Cheat Engine 32bit and 64bit.

Another note the faded looking DC logo is because it was fading into the game when I took the ss also running latest Demul version. Hope you guys can help about to switch back to Nulldc!

Try to open a process first (Demul.exe) and then "add address manually", it is all explained in this thread.



Also the Cheat Engine codes for Demul are different on opening post and on Radar's tutorial.

i've played all the way through shenmue 1 with the widescreen code on a dreamcast, and apart from the side geometry pop-in there are almost no glitches in the entire game.

only glitches are:

- smoke and steam effects, they somehow become misaligned with their objects, e.g. the kettle steam , and smoke from the ships chimneys at the end,.
- during the end sequence when you watch the boat leaving for hong kong, the sea flickers and disappears in a couple of the cuts. hardly a problem.

i'm playing through shenmue 2 now with the code, and
- there is something of a major glitch during the cut-scene when you hand Zhoushan (guang martial arts school) the letter from Zongquan (steet performer). during the shot where zhoushan reads the letter the majority of geometry on the screen disappears for a few seconds and the usually black borders (at the sides) turn green. the scene continues to play and the geometry eventually corrects itself but the green borders at the sides remain. saving the game and soft reseting the console gets rid of the green borders, and you can continue playing. i think this problem is caused because of all the extra geometry that the dreamcast has to load, which is especially problematic in this scene because you have all the martial artists practicing in the background. there is definitely a lot more slowdown on this cutscene with the wide screen code than without it.

in general there is far less side pop in with shenmue 2 when compared to shenmue 1. but unfortunately because of this the dreamcast has to work harder, which seems to make it less stable. if i find anything else i'll report it.

edit: Just tested on my dreamcast. The character clipping is gone. The enviroment clipping is decreased by 60-70% I would say.

great work, now shenmue 1 widesceen is as good as shenmue 2 wide screen , maybe even better. the 70 man battle is especially improved now that all the character clipping is gone. thanks esppiral!

FYI - for anyone wanting to use this code, it needs to be activated in addition to whatever widescreen code your using.

This is great progress! The fact alone that characters don't clip away anymore is a huge improvement already. With the rest of the clipping reduced aswell playing the game in widescreen all the way is getting very close to fully enjoyable.

I've gotta check this out. I'm especially interested how much it impacts performance on the Dreamcast. With all that extra polygons to process it could cause some nasty slowdowns here and there.

just found another glitch in shenmue 2 that happens when using the widescreen code on a dreamcast.

-during the cutscene with the scout when you first meet him at dragon street, and he invites you to that little observation area that over looks the sea, that game locks up completely forcing you to reset. tried it multiple times and it always happens.

so you have to either skip the cutscene (B,B) or restart without the code, get past the cutscene then save, and then restart with the code.

edit;

-exactly the same thing happens on the 2nd cutscene with the scout on dragon street (after you have defeated the 3 fighters - greg, chunyan ect.). the crash happens when the camera angle changes to look up at the scout and the city behind him. must be too much for dreamcast to handle.

edit 2;

shenmue 2:
-there is another green side borders glitch (like the one i mentioned before) during the cutscene where RYo gets off the boat at languishan.
-game completely locks up during the shenmue tree reveal cutscene at the point where there is a close-up on the flowers.

i've now played all the way through shenmue 2 with the widescreen code, and no other glitches to report.

how to use gameshark on jpn dreamcast?

I‘m not native english speaker.
my english is poor.
I have jpn dreamcast,and want to try shenmue wildscreen hack.
so I downloaded gameshark iso and burned it by cd-rw.
but disc does not worked.
is there anyone could tell me what should I do next step?
I know the cheat code for shenmue1 jpn.
