Hi all,

Here is some footage of BETA Dobuita, which can be found on Disc 1.

I was sitting on this for a while but some people here wanted some transparency on some of the things I am working on.

So here is a video I had recorded and finally released.

Very nice! Can't wait to take a look at this myself.

I'm not exactly up to all the facts regarding this beta map. On what version of the game can this be found? And why has is slipped under the radar in previous discussions about beta maps and the exploration mods?

I'll be releasing it in V4 (my final version) of the explore mod!

This particular video has it from the BETA 0.04 version. It can be found on retail too I believe.

Beats me.

My explore mods are planned well ahead. Since I saw that no one spoke of the beta dobuita map I wanted it to be a final additional thank you in the final version.

The mods themseleves are progressive as V1 was just the normal maps, then V2 had beta stuff, then V3 had wish road and other mash ups.

V4 will have vertical clipping and beta dobuita.

Thanks for this , This is the Layout of the Normal Dobuita Map
I noticed their was a Bar/Hotel called Death , but didnt realise that the full texture says 'Sudden Death'

Eventually I plan to create Interiors for these places in my mod

Damn, some pretty crazy stuff here! The bar called 'Sudden Death' made me chuckle :P Little reference to when the game was still VFRPG, perhaps? (as in the sudden death matches to decide the victor in the VF games).
Interesting there's more of those snowmen besides the one in the alley dotted around, too...

the little snowmen are cute. if you are very observant you can see one of these in the final game in the alley way to hearts beats bar during the QTE fight with Tony and Smith. its gets destroyed when Ryo throws Tony into it.

Thanks for the map!

A texture mod? Nice! I think the interiors are all PVRs when it comes to textures so you should be good to go.

I thought the same. I am not sure what else Sudden Death could mean haha.

I honestly thought that you might have found this back in the day. It's in the YQ14 scene.

I didn't test every map, I would think very carefuly what to burn to cd before testing anything, this one map probably wasn't appealing from the content maybe.

True, I can understand that. Nowadays it is much easier to build cdis and test them in an emulator or on an ODE device.

It's crazy to think about all these little details that would have taken a lot of work to get done in an age where physics engines like Havok and Euphoria were hardly ubiquitous. Saw a gif the other day of a fight with some of the Beverly Hills Wharf gang where a table gets knocked over and cups fly off, that must have taken some time to figure out back then, only for almost no one to notice.

Also crazy to think all this beta was just left on the disc! I wonder if they could have reduced the game from 3 discs to 2 if they cut out a lot of this unused stuff...

I've seen most of the unused stuff and I do not think it's enough to bring 3 discs down to 2. As for the physics stuff, totally! It's insane how much work must have went into this.
