But, one director of Shenmue II gave another reason. They thought it'd be
more smooth if the new game started when Ryo lands in Hong Kong.

I'd probably agree with them on that one, actually.

Yeah, even though Chapter 2 sounds cool, I have to admit that it would have been pretty weird starting off the game fighting Chai on the boat.

hell yeah, because at the end when the guy was talking (pretty sure its Ryo's dad) they show day and night and the ship moving acroos the sea, so it would be weird to have to start with him in the middle of the sea when they showed it in a cutscene at the end of the original game. Especially when they show it the next day[or just daytime a some days later] going into the port of Aberdeen]

I wonder what other things they cut out of the first game, I had suspected for quite a while that the boat chapter was initially playable and called Chapter 2. When I played SII I was pissed off at the ending because I was just in Chapter 4 and I had seen online that this game contained Chapters 2-6. When I got all the snapshots and unlocked the Ryo and Chai boat battle manga I knew that that had to be Chaper 2. Thanks to whoever it was who discovered the info about Chapter 5, right before you get to Guilin. I got those pics when I first came to the Dojo in April of last year and I had always thought that they were SIII pics, thanks for clearing that up. BTW wasn't the village called Miao Village, I could be wrong but i seem to remember that there was to loading screens along with the pics with Ryo in them. One was Miao Village and the other was Miao Temple.

The two loading screens were not with those pics, they were discovered by LanDC in the game's files ^^
