Shenmue II COMPLETE NOTEBOOK Walkthrough

Greetings, Shenmue players!
This is what most of you have been waiting for. It's not Shenmue III, though...
It is Shenmue II COMPLETE NOTEBOOK Walkthrough!

UPDATE 2014: Got a low-profile videocard and emulators are running at 60fps! And btw Demul emulates as good as nullDC, if not better.
Anyway, the update covering Disc 2 part will be up in some weeks! Please keep in touch!

Shenmue II Complete Notebook guide became a Walkthrough.
Based on Vector's Shenmue I Complete Notebook guide
To replace Julian's Shenmue II Notebook guide, which was the best and most viewed on internet until now.

Long time no see, I started this work 4 years ago (last time updated on Aug. 25, 2009 (Tue)). It's true that I have given up so many times because the only way I can play this game is on an emulator. I have a notebook on-board graphics card which makes the game lag so bad (runs at 50-60% of speed, most of time). I never got to finish the games on a console before... Even with a lot of lag and bugs, I have been beating the game several times on PC during those years to understand how the notebook works. I DID collect all the entries from the notebook and I have written them all in a ".txt" file like the previous guides above, but Shenmue II notebook can't be guided like that, so I started out again on an upgraded ".pdf" project, where I can provide screenshots and steps with more resources and color, sort of a Walkthrough! If you get any questions about any particular notebook entry, note me right away.

The walkthrough includes, of course, the steps to unlock each entry like Vector did on his guide, but also features:
- tons of screenshots
- notes and hints (save before missing an entry)
- pointing out Xbox text revision on certain pages
- collecting all maps
- collecting all pawnshop flyers
- saving money
- selling at best pawnshops
- different paths with different notebook entries
- secret events
- learning all moves

Thanks for the support, friend! :D

I have finished Disc 1 without missing an entry in the notebook!
Joel ripped Shenmue II notebook and unlocked all entries. Later, I hope he could check if I really didn't missed something. ;)

Hmm, I know someone else did one for Shenmue I, which was fun to try and achieve (even though it's impossible, since in some cases, you have to do certain things and the notes will fill only certain parts). I'm guessing it would be the same for SII, since there are similar events that take place (doing one event, instead of the other). I wonder if there are any secrets I missed completely for SII, bet there's loads, look forward to it.

Yeah, I had mentioned Vector's Shenmue I Complete Notebook guide on my first post in this topic.

You're wrong, for example, the "Bad Girls QTE" on Shenmue I, if you win it you unlock 3 entries and lock 1, if you lose it you unlock 1 entry and lock 3.
It's not like that on Shenmue II, I never saw.. For example: to unlock few entries about Wong, you need to lose "Chase After Wong QTE", lose the 2 fights against the 2 other thieves, then the entries you would lock if you win the QTE is now available instead of blank pages. Hope you see! :)

Thanks a lot for your support! Hang on, please! ;)

Do you know if Fangmei's Birthday unlocks some entry? Till now, Eileen told me about her birthday but no new entry in the notebook.

Fangmei's birthday event doesn't unlock any notebook entries.

The only note I can think of that could easily be missed is the one you unlock a month before the "bad ending" of the game. You get the bad ending on the night of June 31st, so one month prior to this Ryo will have a dream and the following note is unlocked:

Notebook wrote:A strange dream...
A month from now,
the dragon will
block the path?
Was it a sign?

This can be particularly annoying because you need to pass a considerable amount of time! The best time-wasting technique is to continually fail the QTE in Zhangyu's Barber Shop, while learning about the Four Wude. Each time you fail, one day will pass. If you have passed this event already, wasting enough time is going to be very frustrating!

Ah, thanks a lot guys!
I think I can't make Fangmei calls "Ryo-san" instead of "Hazuki-san" in time. She makes 3 questions that includes ASs per day, then after that she only says about the crow, the fortuneteller and the red glow.. :?

Well, about that entry I think I can't get it, because I often finish the game on March. Actually you had explained how to get it, we can just add it in the guide, isn't! :P

Alright! I just lose the fight in the Man Mo Park and then started that Fangmei's scene. After airing out the book, I headed to the Three Blades St.'s Clothier and finally the "Window Shopping" scene started. :P
I think when you lose the battle, it helps a lot her be more friendly and call you Ryo-san, although I didn't had a dialogue with her after the fight. :)

Anyway, I need to concentrate in the notebook entries, isn't! xD Right now I'm looking for the places where I can do Chawan Sign. There's 2 blanks lines in that page, check:
-------------------
Bright Teahouse
>Chawan Sign
>Try elsewhere

-------------------

Is it normal, or there's something missing? Any ideas, friends? :)
Waiting reply, see you! ;)

That's correct, nothing missing ^^
