Today I learned.

I enjoy these. The commentators laugh along at the shenmue quirkiness but without ridiculing it. Its also interesting to witness their unfolding discovery of the game, reactions, and their particular path to completion. Also it well highlights the games subtler non-linearity.

It's painful watching these guys play. How can they call themselves gamers? When I was playing this game at 12 years old I was far better... Jeez, and they've already played Shenmue 1!?

I'll give them this, they got further than I thought they would in two episodes.

Shenmue requires concentration, which is why it's a game better played on your own time with total attention paid to it.

In fairness to them, they've also somewhat got to concentrate on being "entertaining" and it's probably in the best interest for them to string out the content for as long as they can, knowingly or unknowingly. Also, video game journalists are rarely actually good at games, hahaha.

They actually gave me a shout out at 23 minutes and 40 seconds in episode 3 I gave them a compliment about how fun it was watching them play lucky hit. Hopefully they play more lucky hit soon. Sounded like they were worried how long the game was gonna be though lol. They also called me a James Bond HR department guy cos my YouTube name is DoubleO88

That was pretty boring... Short attention span, just mindlessly following NPCs at a snail's pace, instead of learning their way around.

Following NPCs should be the last resort if you get stuck, it's so slow...

That was fucking awful and it may have put me off of the rest of the series. They play it once per week so there's no chance they'll learn the layouts of the game because they'll have spent too much time away from the game. Abort, abort, abort.
