It already does.

Replaying Shenmue right now, at the beginning of disc 3. I am nostalgic and played it for the first time like 5 years ago, but I'm still able to get plenty of enjoyment from it.

Shenmue is a whole genre of gaming, my bet is that the game will win a lot of new fans if given the right attention.

I'm really tempted to fire up the first again, but I'm trying to hold off and give Sega a chance to announce the HD versions.

Haha I'm in the same boat, was gonna wait till they bring out the HD versions but then I gave in! Blasted S1 and now on disc 2 of S2. I get lost all the time in S2 have no idea what to do next Only played it like 3-4 times in the last 10 years whereas S1 is more like 20 lol

Same here. I want to leave it as long as possible, and be blown away not just by the game itself, but hopefully its new features.

Yeah, I'm eager for a play through too. I think it might be good to play through the originals on DC now though, then next onto the HD remakes. It'd be good to have the originals fresh in your mind so you notice all the little differences, might give the HD remakes even more of a 'wow' factor.

This is true, I have forgotten so much about S2 its crazy, played it all day yesterday, disc 3 now, going through the tapes in Rens hideout! Man this game is genius!

You took the time to listen to all of the last tape, even the part after when Yuan is talking?

If not you missed something really funny. Although you can still access the tape player until the Yellowhead Building raiding day.

I actually just started replaying the series little by little shortly before the news was announced. I'm currently up to the start of Guilin :( I hate this chapter.

Can Shenmue be popular in this generation?? I think those of us who have played it in the last 6 months agrees that it can.

It still offers one of the greatest gaming experiences ever. There is nothing like it, and im sure there are a lot of new school gamers who wish to try such a title.

However, obviously the casual masses might find it "boring" due to Ryo not having a gun or knife and not being able to attack people randomly.

Only time will tell.

Also Guilin is one of the greatest chapters in shenmue. But due to the way it ends...........:( :(

But it's not very "open world" like. Just walking in a straight line with the occasional choice of direction and talk talk talk for 2 hours or so. Also a few qte "lets run to get to cave before sunset" Then you get to cave and you got to collect sticks and talk talk talk all over again.

The cliffhanger is the only purpose I feel it has. But besides that, Guilin just pisses me off.

its probably one of those love or hate moments. I thought it was awesome talking to shenhua and reflecting on everything in ryos life such as his friends family and various adventures. Definitely one of my favourite parts of the shenmue series.

The ironic thing is i always assumed shenmue 3 would have a similar atmosphere to the guiling chapter. Maybe not as restricted, but similar in many ways..... Not as open as the previous games

i think the main problem is after the action packed kowloon chapter, many people expected the same thing in guilin. However it was the completeeeeeeeeeeeeee opposite.

Haha yeh man, I listened to the whole thing taking my time towards the end of S2 as I don't want it to end !

I don't have a ps3 or 360 I would buy one of them just to play shenmue.
What is better XBLA/PSN to play shenmue?
I would love if they launch a pc version too then that way we could make real modding.
