We may not know the full story but I think it's safe to say given all that's happened over the years we have a pretty good idea as to what the full story is.

There's no question in my mind that he has brought it up numerous times in the past, Yu understands completely how Shenmue fans feel about the series and he shares the same passion for the series that we do, if he didn't care he would've given up on the Shenmue series a long time ago but the fact that he hasn't really shows that he's just as serious about completing the franchise now as he was years ago.

Pretty much, speaking out against your employer is usually not a really good idea unless something happens that warrants it which isn't the case in this situation.
