I read the comments, yes this is interesting so far... let's keep on going...
I'd like it if eating wasn't necessary, only optional but if you ate something on your day, you could be given a small bonus for the next fight, like you get +25% power on your first 3 moves, or a defense bonus or anything that can depend on what kind of food you eat (junk food, meat, vegan, etc...). Eating a complete dish at a restaurant brings you all bonuses at a time, but it's more expensive of course... what do you think ?
I wish we can have "useful" collectibles, like music (I like the idea of listening to music wherever we want), playing arcade games on console, being able to get some clothes (not hundreds, only 3 or 4 shirts, maybe a hat or two). I don't want to have the full set of customization like we see in GTA, because that's not the point. Ryo Hazuki wants to avenge his dead father, so he's naturally NOT into the swag thing.
Also, I agree on having more "autonomous" citizens, maybe we can enhance this feeling if they could "randomly" interact with each other (I use brackets because this is very dependent on how it's made). I imagine that every part of the day triggers some kind of interactions between citizens.
I've just watched the last video (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4Ebuq2MPtQ), and it seems like Tak Hirai wants to get rid of the old QTE system and battle system... and he'd like to make something "ground breaking" (?). What do you guys think about it ? I'm not alright with what he said because :
- The "old" system is nice the way it is, and is really easy to polish (eg: Yakuza series are a good example of a modern Shenmue fight system)
- Making a new system does NOT mean copy/paste a system that already exists (eg: Arkham Asylum, Asura's Wrath...)
- Making a new system can be a waste of time/effort. The result can be astonishing, or... pathetic.
If I follow the idea of Mr Tak Hirai, I'd suggest that :
- Fighting should stay a matter of training ; if you don't train you don't level up your moves.
- Fighting should look "realistic", at least as much as it was in the series.
- Avoid the "one button" style. I don't want the game to be easy.
- About the Quick Time Events, I have a vague idea of something that can look new, but I'll work on that and publish the idea later (with pictures to explain the whole thing).
