Are all the towns listed in the Kickstarter stretch goals in the game already, or are the stretch goals only there as a means to help give them more features and spice?

They are there, but with more powered up through the stretch goals.

Will we see Ryo's Journal return? Would be cool to be able to flip the pages using the PS4's touchpad.

I think that he was referring to using the touchpad to flip the pages. Not the journal in itself being an interesting idea.
It's good to know that 10 million number. But I'm also slightly worried due to how the Kickstarter campaign is going. Articles like the one from Forbes at the least created extra confusion which was really not needed at this point.

In regard to the 10M - are any of you familiar with Kicktraq? The site tracks and makes projections on kickstarter campaigns - currently we're still standing strong with an estimated end result of 18M - this will ofcourse drop down more (after day 1 it was on 33M because of the usually fast starting day rush), but it usually calculates for the start and end rush of a campaign and the slow bit inbetween after a couple of days of the campaign start. But if we keep the current pace up, we might actually get to that 10M

I think so.
Shenmue 3 is just the start. How successful does the game need to be for us to get Shenmue 4 and so on until the saga is complete?
YS: If the fans are not happy with 3 there will not be a 4. So I please hope we can together make this game the best it can be.
What does mean "not happy" to him ? Bad critics or poor sales ? I don't like this answer at all.

Sounds very straightforward, if fans don't like this game, he won't make another one.

BTW It's $10 Mil on crowdfunding (Kickstarter and Paypal) alone, so no Sony or other sources. It's basically a final stretch goal.

Any info on the stretch goals for Choubu and Bailu village?
Choubu is a riverside village with lots of shops, souvenir stores, hotels and temples. The quests in this village should be very enjoyable, I think.
Bailu is the village where Shenhua was raised and also a place that Ryo's father, Iwao, had visited when he was younger. Here as well the quests will play an important role as Ryo and Shenhua start their journey.

It will mean sales wise as that's what talks at the end of the day- but that is indirectly linked to the reviews/critical reception inevitably- esp for newcomers. Remember the questions are being translated into Japanese for Yu and his answers translated back into English so I wouldnt take that word for word

I actually like the fact that Yu said "If the fans are not happy with 3, there won't be 4". That means he's doing it the way he said: By the fans, for the fans!
If we can get a great S3 done through kickstarter and the fans will like S3, we can also get a great S4 done through Kickstarter.
