It shows how asian art changed over the years. The one on the right is closer in line with modern asian video games. I like the one on the left a bit better, though... she looks a lot less like a generic plastic doll.

I hope that's not the case. I really enjoyed how in Shenmue the characters are stylized but look like how people who actually look like.

I'm hoping it's closer to the Shenhua in the header by the end of it.

Still needs tweaking but it's getting there. I also hope they keep the costume colour in line with the art-work/original models

The old models still look faaaar better, but it's just a photoshop of a model made in a day, so there's no need to worry.

BTW I liked the larger belt.

YES! So much improvement. From when I first saw the models of Ryo and Shenhua from the E3 unveiling I knew they didnt seem right but also knew they would be improved. I would say we should look at these early videos for Shenmue 3 in the same light we did the early Project Berkley footage for Shenmue 1, whats ironic they both look pretty similar. I'd wager they are going to improve all the models vastly, but it was still a great way to show us some initial footage and ignite the hype train.

Since Shenmue 3 is a direct continuation to Shenmue 2 I still can't understand why are they even improvising with the character design? Why don't they simply upgrade reference Shenmue 2 models without making any unnecessary changes ??

Prety sure this is a photoshop they did over the old render to refine the concept art for her model.

I like it, I prefer stilized designs over realistics

It's not your dream, it's an obligation. (Although I have some crush on her shenmue II ingame charadesign which is very different from the CGI.)

I like the old model more.
The new one is way to sharp around the jaw. She looks more anime then she should. She looks more Japanese then Chinese. Her face should be more full and flatter like the original Shahua.

Hair is greatly improved, clothes and breast size look more like Shenhua as I would expect (prettier imo). I didn't have a problem with Shenhua as much as Ryo in the alpha alpha KS video but this is a nice improvement already.
