As for me, I'm definitely going to buy the digital version day one.

Mainly for two reasons beeing:
1. The sales number of Shenmue III will be crucial in order to ensure support from a Publisher for SIV (if the story doesn't come to an end in Shenmue III) and I want to give my little contribution to reach this goal.
Get ready to spread #SaveShenmue4 already

2. I highly doubt the backers will receive their rewards before or even on day one.

I recently got a dream involving the release of Shenmue 3 with a huge queue in a game store and adults screming their heads off on the way home with the game in their hands.

i don't have a ps4 (yet) so until i get one, will be watching space.
definitely get a physical copy at the first opportunity if possible, bank it for the ps4.
a dlc/archive will suffice i suppose.
friend got ps4, and he's banging in for s3. (bastard! he'll be way into that part of the story before i get a shot. kudos to him for having the $$$ to back it.)

I'm getting the physical PS4 version as my backer reward so if there is ever a retail version sold in stores and if it differs from the backer reward in some way, I will probably buy it again. If there is a special retail collector's edition, I will certainly buy that. I won't buy a digital copy of the game.

It won't, Suzuki confirmed that. They'll at least need a Shenmue IV to conclude the story, might even have to make (or want to stretch it to) a fifth one.

Yeah, I'll be getting the digital version day one. I'm only buying physical versions when there's no other option (Sleeping Dogs is not available overhere for example and I can't be arsed to create a fake PSN UK account or something like that, so I ordered the UK physical). Shenmue is an exception though, so I'll buy the physical on day one as well, if there's ever going to be one. Both in addition to my physical backer edition, all on PS4. I'll do this to support the game and help its sales.

I won't. Already waited 14 years, more 2 years and some months will not be a big deal. Also, I will probably need to do some saving for S4 and a decent gpu, since I will play it on pc.

I have both PC and PS4 physicals coming, but I might go ahead and do the digital as well just to support it. If the backer exclusive codes and in-game goodies can be access without opening the physical version at all, I'll just hold on to those and go pure digital, for my own benefit and to throw some sales numbers their way.

I will buy another digital and physical versions even though i already have both from the Kickstarter. I plan to give one digital code to a friend who has no intention of buying shenmue, maybe i can turn him into a fan.

Also i bet the physical versions wont arrive until after the game is launched (given AJ track record), so i bet a lot of you guys will be getting another physical copy as well.

I will buy every version that they release. Physical or digital, doesn't matter.
