I was just banned from NeoGAF for making three posts about Shenmue in a Shenmue thread.

I really don't get that forum.

Am I right in saying that you need to have an academic email address to register on NeoGAF?
Why is NeoGAF so locked down when it comes to who can register and what those who have registered can post? I've heard that it's not even a good forum.

I've posted there a few times and didn't like it. It's so huge, it's like a Twitch chat channel.

Not a huge loss, Neogaf is a badly moderated forums which is only good for checking videogame news since they are posted pretty quick. I've seen people banned for the most trivial stuff.

You can't use an E-mail address on a public E-mail server like Yahoo or GMAIL. I used my personal E-mail to register. It took months for approval.

The only explanation I can think of is I used the name 'funny bear burgers,' which rubbed them the wrong way since I joined and immediately posted in the Shenmue thread. I definitely didn't post anything even slightly politically incorrect, unless they took issue with me criticizing that recent The Know video, which stars a woman.

There are only 3 things certain in life: death, taxes and a NeoGAF ban.

Neogaf is so freaking sensitive, neogaf and 4chan are like the worst gaming communities out there.
