According to my source at Atlus USA, the plan for Chi Yu Men members based on Western backers is to deck them out in knee-length jorts and star-spangled basketball vests, with their baseball caps twisted at jaunty angles. You'll hardly notice them.

I really, honestly couldn't care less what the NPCs look like. I'm not going to pretend all the NPCs in the first two games were all beautiful works of art. I can handle a couple kinda weird looking foreigners hanging around the village.

Yu Suzuki said Shenmue III will cover chapter 5 and 6. Which one will be 6 from the 11 scenarios illustrations from Shenmue postmortem GDC 2014?

I believe 6 would be the 4th illustration. I really hope the Free Battle system is really good and not some QTE hybrid, since it seems to be a very martial arts heavy chapter.

So that means they changed the order of the chapters. They will probably mdernized the free battle system to today standards i dont think is going to be all QTE. I really can't wait for the first reveal trailer and gameplay demo. Is going to be epic

Yes, they did and it's caused confusion in the past. :-)

The Game Informer replay of Shenmue 2 that's been going on since late last year reminded me that Ryo's notebook in-game refers to Shenmue 2 as Chapters 2, 3, and 4. For years I had thought the boat chapter was chapter 2 and that Shenmue 2 ended during Chapter 5, because I'd forgotten about those notebook pages.

Free battle is one of my "worries" because I can't see how they will change it. IMO Shenmue 1/2 has the best battle system, I'd only adjust the camera a little and it'd be perfect.
Suzuki is the father of Virtua Fighter, I'm looking fordward to see what brilliant idea Suzuki brings us :)

Don't be afraid of change. Yu likes to innovate, and that would have been the case had Shenmue continued and III had released in 2004 on the Xbox. Embrace and enjoy the new ideas.

I love the combat in the original games, but it shouldn't be immune to tweaks/reinventions.

I can already see how something like Yu's idea for AI Battling (intelligent system to magnetise Ryo's attacks to enemies just slightly out of range) could make it much smoother and enjoyable.

Similarly, don't get spooked when he talks about simpler controls. The original Shenmue combat was made with the same mindset to make it simpler and more intuitive to control than Virtua Fighter. Simple doesn't have to mean dumbed down or basic.

For example: https://twitter.com/SpaghettiNEOGAF/status/841792226527182848; the most complex button press in this video is -> -> B, and it still looks cool and was fun to play.

And even then it seems like there will be an added element of complexity and depth when Yu talks about splitting enemies up and using the environment/physics against them. Being resourceful with your surroundings and employing fighting tactics is a really exciting and intriguing spin on things.

Because I know Yu likes to innovate I trust him. It's just I'm used to the old system and I'm afraid it gets a bit simple.

I love the new idea of using the scenary to beat the enemies or void them, it makes it a bit more strategic.
