Someone has made this artwork recently, the best Niao Sun charadesign so far.



I'm also intrigued by what Takeuchi wanted to mean by making the characters "cuter" like Shenhua. Does it imply massive changes ? Whatever I'm completely excited to see their next gen faces, at MAGIC if possible.

It is a good thing you brought that point up. Japanese is contextual, more so than English (IMO, of course). If you were able to speak the language and failed to use certain words correctly, it will be considered either disrespectful or impolite.

So, if someone is going to play Shenmue III in Japanese, I would have to say that actually learning the language has to be in relation to that. Anything else is just being too hard on yourself.

I think by cuter they meant closer to the original.

That Niao Sun design is pretty good.

What do you all think about Ryo having a curfew like the previous two games. I don't really mind at all. Should the days be longer...

i wouldn't mind an option to rise earlier in order to see the sun rise, and also to walk around the villages just as everyone is waking up (a quiet early morning walk type of experience).

i also hope they keep the real time length of the days the same. this along with the curfew system make a 'shenmue day' the perfect length for a shorter gameplay session, as least for me. i get into a kind of rhythm with my play sessions as well.

imo the curfew system makes a day feel more real and significant because you are forced to sleep just like in real life. other open world games that don't force you to do this (like the witcher 3) makes the time simulation aspect seem meaningless.

I agree with every thing you said Johnvivant. Remember the conversation Shenhua had with Ryo about the fog in the morning being so thick that you can't see your hands and she say to Ryo if he stay in the village for longer he can see it.

I thought it meant that it's a possibility that the artist could draw some exclusive Shenmue related images, much like the guy from Naughty Dog had done in June.

Yoshitaka is just an artist who has done artwork and cover designs etc, mostly for the Final Fantasy series. He has never worked on Shenmue before, so that was what I thought the tweet was aiming for.
