His next video should be recorded using Reshade (SSAO, GI, DOF, Lens flare, bloom) when do it right it gives the game a new dimension, almost like playing a remaster.

I've been mession around with it an the Screen Space ambient occlusion alone makes the game 100% more beautiful.

Notice the contact soft shadows that Ryo ( and everything actually) casts to the environment.

The Shenmue Dojo youtube notification made me think that the video would be the ideal demo for the Shenmue III start screen.

Absolutely superb video, honestly what they achieved in 1999 really shows in this video, even if it's polished up, those Passport models...like the Nozomi one...honestly look better than the character models shown so far for Shenmue 3. I hope they really go to that level of detail again because those 17 year old passport graphics still look phenomenal!

Is the footage at 60fps because it was sped up, or is it just the quick cuts that make it seem so fast? I know they can use tools like SVP to make 30fps video into 60fps by interpolating frames, but I'm wondering if that was done here or not.

It's definitely interpolation.

Don't you confuse ghosting with native blur? The quality seems too high for being interpolation. Isn't possible to slower the emulator speed to increase the number of frames?

No, it's not. I believe Esppiral attempted to do a 60fps code for it and the game just ran twice as fast. He can confirm or deny if I'm remembering correctly. (I know he did 60fps codes for other games)

I promise you it is. I've played around with SVP before including running my own Shenmue and other Dreamcast footage at 60fps and when configured correctly, it's absolutely amazing what it can do. It really does look like true 60FPS.

That sounds really amazing. I'm using myself SVP for videos and it's fantastic but I didn't try it for video games yet. :)

Be sure to set it to "Animation" mode when you use it for video games, otherwise it can look a little weird. Other than that, it really is amazing!

When ou say "use it with videogames", you mean actually playing using SVP?

Unfortunately not, I just mean running captured footage. I have an idea for a workaround that could make it possible though. I'm going to test it out soon.

Edit: It works, but it adds about half a second of latency. Will continue to mess around with it.

Sorta reminds me why Sega just couldn't license Demul or some other emulator and plonk it on the PS4 so they can release all their DC ports and turn out like this.

C'mon SEGA Shenmue 1 & 2 HD ain't that hard!!

Not sure if there's much delay on payment processing with the Slacker Backer site, but it made nearly $900 yesterday alone, and I feel this video is part of why. It ending up on Eurogamer and the like is going to spread it even further. \:D/
