How big do you think the Open World will be?

Since the game did not reach 10 million yet do you think you will be able to explore all of Baisha, Bailu and Choubu?

Sure you will.
But I don't think they will be particularly large.

Bailu will probably be Harbour-sized, most of it will be open fields.
We heard Choubu will be Dobuita-sized, it's more urban than Bailu, so I expect a lot of tight alleys and numerous buildings
Baisha? No one knows about it, but it's likely smaller than Choubu, so somewhere in between... It's the only location that met all of it's stretch goals, so I'm expecting it to be really fleshed out though.

There is also the forest, which will be 4x4km.... That's pretty big.

All in all, I expect a game between Shenmue 1 and Shenmue 2 in terms of scope.

Nice little description that, we're getting a more scenic outing this time with less built up areas.

I'm all for the scenery but I need some buildings/towns/urban areas. I feel that's what I loved most about Shenmue, being able to explore a city and many different stores and domiciles.

It is hard to say. I guess it depends on how big the full budget is. Personally I hope it will be similar in size and detail to Shenmue 1. I am not sure how realistic that is though.

Creating and altering terrain in UE4 is a fairly easy process, so I think we will be pleasantly surprised by the size compared to Yu's early comments.

Yeah the bustle brought the game alive.

You realize this is a small, rural Chinese village in the mountains, right?

Am I missing something? Where there large cities in the Guilin mountains?

There are cities like that in Guilin. Maybe not Hong Kong-like, but Guilin is a popular tourist spot that has got some pretty developed cities. Then again, I've got no idea if this applies to 1987 Guilin.

Choubu is meant to be more of a traditional Shenmue play environment, though. Yu did mention Kowloon when referring to it, so it'll probably be kind of a ramshackle place.

Basically, the structure of the game will go: small rural village (Bailu) -> ramshackle town/city (Choubu) -> traditional Chinese settlement (Baisha).

That's the one thing I'm worried about. I'm sure I'll still like the game, but I looked at Disc 4 of SII as more of a relaxing epilogue. I'm more of a Wan Chai and Dobuita kinda guy.
