An important thing to remember is that Yu does not play other games.

If the new combat drifts towards Arkham or Yakuza in any way, it won't be on purpose. Personally I don't think it'll be comparable to either game from what I've read.

Really, Yu's comments are reminding me a lot of the 70 Man Battle in so much that there were destructible objects and it was possible to split enemies up.
