Hm, so it will include Dreamcast games after all.

There's an interview out where a SEGA rep says mobile is the first focus, but will be looking to roll out the platform on desktop PCs and possibly consoles in the future.

I really liked the style of the add, it reminded me of the old days. That being said they can fuck off with their "for free" bullshit, if free2play is how they want to regain their image then I'm honestly lost for words.

Least it's ad supported rather than micro-transaction supported.

As far as I can tell there's zero reference to Shenmue in the ad, so there's that.

Please, please, please SEGA... never ever release Shenmue on mobiles.
At least not before having released them on PC and consoles.

It's a step... in a direction.

Jet Set Radio already had a mobile port, so I'm not too surprised about that supposedly making the cut.

Overall this means basically nil for Shenmue HD as of right now. I figure SEGA knows they can squeeze way more cash out of a proper re-release rather than just throwing it onto this service.

Sounds really interesting. Mostly, Sega's 8-bit and 16-bit games in the beginning. With plans to expand into Saturn and Dreamcast games, if specific games will work well on mobile platforms.

There is also talk of expanding beyond mobile. In particular, a possible subscription based version of Sega Forever on Apple TV and Android TV is discussed.

The business model itself seems to be ad supported, with a flat rate of $2 per game to remove ads from the game if you want. Although, according to the interview the sheer brand awareness this brings towards Sega is another major reason this is happening.

Overall it's definitely not a bad idea.

I think having maybe a PC desktop client ready for launch may have stemmed the "ewwww, mobile" cries, though.

What makes me kind of mad with this SEGA Forever service on mobiles is that Shenmue HD is supposedly on the top of every SEGA list for requested games...



But somehow they'll manage to release the whole SEGA catalogue (on mobiles) before...

If they haven't gotten the message after literally years of #SaveShenmue and #SaveShenmueHD, then SEGA were never going to give us what we want.

Luckily, Shenmue III's delay means they have more time on the clock to get something done about it.

It's not the worst service ever and I don't hold it against Sega for trying. They weren't promising something more than a mobile platform to play their old games. Just hoping there's more around the corner.

I spotted a Dreamcast in the trailer!!!

I am desperately hoping for a mobile port of Shenmue 2 so I can play it portably. I really don't have time to play on my Dreamcast anymore. Since they said it would be free (including ads however which can be paid for to be removed) it looks good. Sega just want it the easy way and thats what they are doing. I wish HD remasters happen first for Shenmue so they at least make a profit.
