Some disappointing news, but for the greater good! Yu Suzuki has announced that Shenmue 3 will be delayed until at least the second half of 2018.

I can't say I'm surprised by this announcement. Not appearing at E3 was already a pretty strong indicator that Shenmue 3 was going to be delayed. I 'm not worried though, I trust Yu Suzuki and his team to make the most of the extra time.

This doesn't bother me at all. I'm satisfied with Yu's reasons and I'm actually excited to hear him say that the game is turning out bigger and more beautiful than expected. I've waited all this time I can wait another year or so. I'm actually pretty excited!

No surprise at all. The 2017 date was always a placeholder. I don't care how long it takes. Just as long as they make Shenmue 3 the best game it can possibly be.

Very pleased with Yu's transparency.

'The game has become bigger and more beautiful than I initially expected.'

That will do for me. Roll on 2018!

As someone who expected this right from the start I don't mind the delay at all.
Yu said some very positive things about the reasons for the delay and I fully trust him it will all be for the better, to give us a fuller and richer Shenmue III experience.

I hope that they can use the extra time to gather more funds, to keep things moving at full steam. It's now really up to Sega to make the right decisions with Shenmue Remasters and use the time wisely, bring it at the right moment to give Shenmue III another boost in interest just when it needs it.

Not surprised, not even bothered to be honest. A delay meaning a bigger and better game is good news as far as I'm concerned. A couple of new screenshots or a small clip or something might have made this pill go down easier though.

So roughly a 1 year delay. Noice.
Personally, I consider this to be great news.

I am actually excited as hell about this. Now it feels like a full on proper development schedule, and not a rushed indie schedule. Great decision!

I agree. Rome wasn't built in a day.

I just hope a potential delay was properly budgeted for at the start of the project.

I think we all expected this, a bit dissapointed because I'm eager to play it but, I understand it's for the sake of the game.

Although he says 2º half of 2018, december is in this second half so at the worst is only a year of delay!

I liked what he said about the size of the game, I'm sure Suzuki will deliver an amazing game!

I think the December 2017 was only initially conceived when Suzuki thought they would just barely meet the $2 million funding goal. Good to hear that the game will be more fully-featured than he imagined it would be.
