YSNET officially announce the delay of Shenmue 3.

Best news since the Advanced Free Battle announcement.

I feel a bit disappointed for Biscay and the other related actors though. The delay seemed to be inevitable, I hope their trust has not been abused by the project ambition.

I'm sure they were all well aware of this ahead of time. They're not going to disclose private information to people who bug them on Twitter, so of course they denied a delay. It's not Cedric's info to disclose.

Just to clarify,

YSNET didn't use the original logo as seen in the thumbnail. That was created by Ziming for our YouTube channel. The original video contains no Shenmue logo.

- Gio Corsi and Yu Suzuki pose with the original game for a photo
- there are 2 pieces of bad news 9 days apart, both saying Shenmue 3 will not be at E3, as well as now a flat out full year delay.
- announcing the delay 4 days before E3 with not a single image, character model, or trailer.
- nothing offered from YSNET to "cushion the blow". Surely they knew these setbacks would disappoint fans in some way.

I'm pretty sure they knew 2017 release couldn't be met since last year. SM3 budget was probably already adjusted by partners way before than today's announcement.

Two years of development time were way too few for a game of the supposed Shenmue 3's scope.
I only hope they have all the resources to afford an extra year.

It may be a paradox, but my hype for Shenmue HD has never been so high...

Not surprised at all, and not disappointed. I'd rather they take the time and give it the treatment it deserves. We have waited this long, we can wait a little longer ;) Besides, I'm just happy the game is in development and that they are taking care of it.

Also if the delay means they can change the logo, I definitively won't be complaining

I was out and about when I got the email on my phone. Was low on data and didn't want to watch it on my phone so dropped everything and came back home asap! Even avoided the Dojo so I didn't get any "spoilers" for the update.
As others have said, I am super excited about the delay. The fact that unreal 4 has allowed Ysnet to create a bigger and better game is amazing and am so glad Yu decided on it.
Just done a quick look over all the gaming media and it is so great to see that so many people support the decision to delay!
As Peter said, I am doubling down on a E3 Shenmue HD announcement now, the timing can not get any better for Sega!

I'm not excited about the delay but I'm not angry either. Shenmue is a game that shouldn't be rushed. Many of us were expecting a delay of some kind. I hope it actually comes out next year and doesn't have further delay. A delay into 2019 would anger me a little but I'm a patient person.

With this news, my expecting a Shenmue HD Collection announcement next week has dropped from 90% to 40% sure. The year delay of the third moves the burner out from under Sega's ass. They'll be in no rush to announce the HD Collection if ever now. E3 2018 now has a far better chance for that reveal.

That's true, but even though I am not fully up to date with what they are doing regularly, the soundbytes coming from them have been positive, and backed up by the releases of Bayonetta and Vanquish. They have been slowly making the right calls lately.
