New Ryo & Shenhua models from press release

Biggest thing folks need to remember regarding the nitpicking of these models is this:

There is still well over a year in development left and a lot can change in that time period. What we see now versus, say, PSX could be worlds apart.

Why waiting for PSX when there's Gamescom? I bet the stuff we'll get soon will look nothing like that. Otherwise... ouch!

My point is that, imho, stating that this model is an abomination, the ugliest thing ever or even just that it doesn't look that Shenhua AT ALL is an huge, laughable knee-jerking overreaction.

Creating the "passport" models by 04 wasn't an unrealistic feat, much less in 2017. Regardless, I always liked the original Dreamcast models more.

Ryo is not perfect but if it woulb be the final version, it would be ok for me.

Shenfa, hm I think she can be improve.

We don't see much but the clothes seems to be pretty basic (ryo's t shirt looks pretty weird).

But the environement looks gorgeous

And Guys, in Any cases we are going to play shenmue 3, it is crazy, and I m happy to see more of this game !

I can't wait to see a trailers and some gameplays !

Drake got older but they did not changed his face features like the eyes of shenhua.

Made some quick tweeks on Shenhua..still not perfect...

I couldn't agree with you more. Look at the Monkey Island series, Guybrush couldn't look more different if they tried. Every series is pretty much the same. I really think we shouldn't worry too much until we see actual footage.

If they looked like dreamcast original models with stunning environments then it just wouldn't look right. I know not everyone was asking or expecting the original models, it was more wanting the passport models I guess. Those models were somewhat what I was expecting.

I think one problem is that most if not all of the material we've seen so far have apparently been mock-ups - for KS, for this press release. I know the fanbase is starving for eyes-on experiences, but I'd rather have the artists and the marketing staff working together to create exquisite images than to see mocked-up placeholder images.

Exactly. Especially given the contrast in the picture: the environments look stunning, whereas the characters look like they time-warped using 1997 technology.

The middle one looks a lot more like a 2017 Ryo, IMO. Much better.

Anyway, these definitely aren’t the final Shenhua/ Ryo models. It’s Suzuki and Kid Nocon we’re talking about here; no way they would be satisfied with this subpar BS.

those model shots are not great, we just have to hope they are placeholder, however it seems unlikely since they'd have to spend time creating those placeholders in the first place.

What I really wonder is why is it so hard to them to hear what people are saying? over and over they've been told we want something close to the character models on the passport disc; most would be happy if they just replicate those models as closely as they can.. and yet we keep getting different versions of jank.

Exactly that. I don't understand why we're trying so hard to know if the models are faithful to the original. They simply don't have to look dumb with vacant stare and I seriously doubt Suzuki let this thing happens. Then the cartoonish style is another matter that I wish to avoid in the final build.

I repeat myself but Suzuki already proved with Shenmue Online CGI that his soldiers under his command can make fantastic stuff in terms of remaking old charadesign.

And in fact what we want is shenmue 3, it is not the end of the world if the characters are not perfect.
