Has anyone contacted ysnet via the kick starter to offer their opinion on the logo text? Yu did ask for our opinion on this. Voicing it here is good n all, but maybe they don't follow fan forums too often.

100% they have gotten messages. Even if they haven't, it's all over the KS comments.

But it couldn't help sending more along. Just be polite about it.

I think I prefer the original (cursive) at the moment, we all got used to it and it's basically history.
It's known that we usually tend to appreciate and prefer what's already familiar to us.

But honestly I'm getting to like the new one more and more.
I mean, this looks awesome as well.

Although I prefer the original like most of you and voted for that, I would be okay with them keeping the handwritten one if they cleaned it up a bit. I understand the concern that some people can't read cursive and they want it to appeal to a broader audience, and the handwritten one does kind of look like Japanese characters which is probably the feeling he was going for. It does look bad with the gold effect applied, but maybe if the letters were evened out and looked more balanced like the Japanese logo, or some strokes smoothed, it might look better.


From a fan perspective I prefer the old logo, but ultimately it doesn't matter that much and I'd rather see them take whatever option will portray the series best to those who aren't already interested.

Familiarity is definitely a part of it, and probably why reactions have been pretty... extreme. But the cursive logo is really something else. It's very unique among other logos for games, I feel.

Like mostly everyone else here, I applaud Yu-san for his kindness of heart and his willingness to take a shot at it from a different perspective.
But honestly? The only winner here is hands down, the cursive font. It's what we've always associated with Shenmue. It feels right.

As long as it's not the first one, I don't care.

Yu could release his in the Japanese version and the original Internationally.

Either way, the dated gradients need a flatter, more modern approach, or else it will look indie.

Few tweaks and both can look brilliant.

nah, sorry, the newest doesn't look aesthetic in any way.

Shenmue's original font had something classy and regal yet foreign.

The new one looks like some scribble with some photoshop bevel, it looks amateur at best.
