Just wanted to chime in to say that Hotline Miami is probably the best indie game I have ever played. Perfect for Vita, since it's quick bursts of extreme violence.
Fans of [extremely fast paced] balls to the wall/extremely difficult, trial and error gameplay should check it out. It's also easily one of the most, if not the, most violent 2D game I've ever played. You can curb stomp, bash guy's heads in with baseball bats until their heads are mush, blow away enemies with shotguns that blow away massive chunks of people, gouge eyes out, slash enemies into half with katanas. I'm pretty jaded when it comes to game violence, but seeing it in a 2D perspective so violent was pretty shocking in a way that 3D games just cannot do to me anymore...the game seems to realise that, I think. The music is another point worth harping about; really magnificent, some truly great electronic tunes.
The story/presentation is bizarre with some obvious inspiration taken from the masters of weird cinema.
The short of it is, this game is incredibly fun and addictive.
Come to think of it, the game really reminds me of an old cyberpunk PC game by the name of DreamWeb; another similarly crazy game with a top down perspective and incredibly violent gameplay, involving a Messianic-like order comprised of holistic monks who choose the main character to go on "missions" when it's just plain murder, basically going on a killing spree all around for "reasons" [including vigilantism and for "a higher order"] only the insane main character can comprehend. I'd recommend this game to Segata, since he is also a big fan of Hotline Miami.
