"Kickstarter is meant for people that don't have the necessary funds to start their dream project. It's not meant for a company the size of Sega-Sammy.
The only way you'll see Sega games on Kickstarter is via a third-party. What I mean by that is that a third-party studio acquires the license from Sega to make a game based on one of their IP's, and that studio then goes to Kickstarter and asks backers for funding.
That can work. An example for this is Dreamfall: Chapters from Red Thread Games. That company was formed from ex-employees of Funcom. The latter didn't want to fund the sequel (too risky), but they did license the Dreamfall IP to Red Thread Games. RTG then went to Kickstarter, got the funding, and are currently releasing the game. has said that SEGA is not the problem and that he can acquire the license from them:
