I always wondered how much politics/real world setting really played in the games. On the one hand, it's all about culture and the setting (Yokosuka and the US Navy, Kowloon and the British) but on the other hand it was never the point of the game's plot and was never overtly political. I wonder if this theme continues into III with the Communists/Rural communities. In fact, we had this exact same conversation on the III forum.
