Well it's a kickstarter project so usually they feel like they need to show the fans how progress is going from "prototype" to final product.

Indeed, especially when some people are travelling across the world to go to this event to get Shenmue III news. In the video, they say that these are not "pre-planned" screenshots and they are just something that Yu took with little thought. Cedric even says that the game won't look anything like this, its so so so early.
