Unpopular film/TV opinions post yours!

Postby Bluecast » Thu Jun 29, 2017 6:20 pm

Got an opinion or something you like/dislike most people would disagree with? POST IT!

I shall begin.

I have always enjoyed the 80s version of Howard the Duck.
I enjoy Spiderman 1 over Spiderman 2.
Deep Space 9 is a great sci fi TV series but an awful Star Trek show.

Scarface wasn't a good film.
Taxi Driver's boring.
So's Silence of the Lambs.
Breaking Bad was good, but not the holy grail of TV it was made out to be.
Everybody Loves Raymond is one of the worst thing that's ever appeared on TV and - along with all its fans - is an embarrassment to your country.
The entirety of the Lord of the Rings saga is wank.
Star Wars is shite n'all. Episode 7 was decent though.
Star Trek's duller than Roy Cropper in mourning.
Doctor Who is the worst thing that this country's ever produced.
Die Hard 4.0 is a good film.
The Dark Knight Rises was the perfect ending.
The original Pirates trilogy is one of the greatest trilogies of all time.
Alien 3's a brilliant film.
Mad Max: Fury Road is horribly overrated. Still a good film though.
I always detested Monica in Friends. She's gotta be one of the most irritating characters in a show I like.
Blackadder is far superior to Only Fools and Horses.
Wrestling needs to die.
Futurama is better than The Simpsons.
American Dad is better than Family Guy.
Bottom was better than The Young Ones.
Dragonball Z is the equivalent of having a dream about shaggin your own nan only to wake up in her coffin with a boner.
How I Met Your Mother is... wait for it...

Don't really like long films, unless they're really good. Like Seven Samurai good. Disliked all of the Lord of the Rings films for it. Everything above 120 minutes gets boring to me.

I also like the cheesy Chinese nationalism paired with blatant anti-Japanese stereotypes in Fist of Fury. I love Japanese people but it's kind of fun in a weird way, plus it's so refreshingly non-pc by today's standards. Love it.

My God, MiTTZ! That Dragonball Z description!

Here's my unpopular film opinion: Zardoz is a masterpiece.

Star Wars is terrible. Episodes 4-6 are ok if you consider the time they were made, but they really do not deserve the acclaim that it has accrued during the years. There were far better fantasy movies at the time, such as the never ending story. Episodes 1-3 are pure trash. Episode 3 is the best, but it is a shit movie that only is decent because it is packed with highly dramatic events.

Rogue One and Episode 7 are the best movies, I think, but even then those movies weren't great.

I hate parks and recreation. I hate most "cringe humor" in general.

Better Call Saul is terribly boring. Two episode's worth of content is basically stretched out to an entire season.

Shenmue 3 will probably suck.

Edited because I am not a time traveler.

I'm glad episode 8 is going to be one of the best of all the star wars movies. I was not exactly wowed by the trailer.

I haven't even seen Never Ending Story and I'm willing to argue that it is in no way better than Star Wars
But I agree about Shenmue 3. I have little hope, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

Sherlock seasons 3 and 4 weren't that bad.
Oliver Stone's The Doors is terrible.
Hugo might be my favorite Martin Scorsese film.

I'll +1 on that. Not a huge Scorsese fan to begin with, but it seems like the stuff I like the most from him is usually somewhere outside of his usual crime or hard drama fare. Hugo of course being the best example, and Shutter Island being another (it's a bit predictable, but it's entertaining and has some great visual elements).

Most super heroes movies suck. As example, Dark Knight has great theme and probably the best villain of the bunch, but the action is uber incoherent. Plus given how realistic people try to paint that movie to be, I have no idea how criminals could feel intimidated at all by Bale's voice and his tank fight movement. On the other side, Snyder knows how to make memorable scenes but can't seem to know how tie anything into a good and coherent film. As for the Marvel ones, everything is an one line joke at any given moment, even during supposed heavy dramatic scenes. Does anything matter in those movies?

Cowboy Bebop, an anime with a fantastic start and middle, had a lackluster ending and a even more mediocre movie.

Dark Knight is only good for the Joker, Two Face, Lucius Fox, and Alfred. Everything else is disjointed, horribly convoluted, and boring as fuck.

Batman Begins is the best one. Even if the Ra's Al Ghul twist was horrible and the Scarecrow was pretty lame.

Not even gonna bother with Dark Knight Rises because it's a worst version of TDK strictly because it's an obvious cash cow.

Though on that note, Nolan is a great writer but a pretty bland director. Ang Lee and Bryan Singer are on the same wavelength.

Episode VII and Rogue One are not as good as people make them out to be. Episode VIII will be more of the same.

Wolf of Wallstreet is the best Scorsese film.

All the Spider-Man films to date are good, just varying degrees of good.

Stranger Things is boring.

The MCU is finally beginning to run out of steam as their nearly 10 year old formula is becoming stale, but not everyone realizes that for some reason.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is way better than the original. And even then, half the jokes still suck (though I met James Gunn in person, he's a cool guy).

^^I don't think all that many people are in a rush to compare any of those usually, since they're nothing alike aside from being a little difficult.
Also they're videogames, not film/tv shows.

Tobey Maguire will always be the best Spiderman. I love it. I'm also curious about why you think DS9 is a bad star trek show. It's my favorite.

As for me, I think Quentin Tarantino makes some of the most boring, uninteresting, and over hyped movies I've ever seen. I honestly don't get the appeal.
