Saw this posted on Siliconera earlier today. Details the start of Saejima's journey in Yakuza 5. I chose a different title for the link since the title could be considered a slight story spoiler (Though as far as I can tell, it's been revealed in the trailers already..)

Trouble seems to follow the hardboiled Taiga Saejima wherever he goes. In Yakuza 5, he finds himself back in prison to start his journey.

^So you have no problem with the guy wearing a skintight suit that looks like his on his way to a gay bar but the girl dressed like a popular popstar?

I am currently playing 5. I finished Kiryuu's chapter. I have only been to Fukuoka once for a day on a business trip. But I do recognize the canals and the bridges. Chapter 2 is in Hokkaido which is Saejima's chapter which I am currently half way done with....I think.... It is very heavy dialog heavy as usual. With these games, I am more interested in the story so it works for me.

The action as usual is fucking balls to the walls and totally insane. But a certain scene with Kiryuu's final battle gets really ridiculous even if it is to show how bad ass he is. After 4, hell even 3, I had no idea how they were going to develop him, but this game does an interesting job of re-exploring his character and for the right reasons. Same with Saejima so far. I look forward to doing the other chapters before I go back to Japan.

Ironically, the only time I can do any gaming is when I go back home to the states for the holidays lol

This new game is very excellent, but IMHO, does not really deserve the 40 Famitsu got it. 10 years ago, I used to think Famitsu had harder standards but not as hard as they were. Soul Calibur and Ocarina of Time are the two games I can think of that deserved their 40s. Ryu Ga Gotoku 5 is really awesome, but the dialog heavy cutscenes that exceed MGS4 by far kind of drags it down even if they can be engaging. Of course that would be difficult for non-Japanese speakers who choose to import.

In Kiryu's game in Fukuoka, some of the characters speak in Hakata-ben, the dialect of Fukuoka city area. It is very strange to me. I can understand the Kansai/Osaka dialect because I have many friends from Osaka and the Yakuza way of speaking is influenced by it because the yakuza are based out of that region. I also used to live in Hiroshima and Shikoku, and a lot of the dialects in those regions share similarities with Osaka and Kansai. I had a teacher from Nagoya so I do some of of Nagoya dialect as well.

But this game is truly a unique and diverse experience. It is like you are getting 7 games in one. You got an action game, you got a dancing game, a singing game, a baseball game, Virtua Fighter 2, a driving simulation game and a hunting game.

The new character Shinata is a reviewer of sex clubs since he got kicked out of baseball.

Plus, this game will tell you something new about Majima which really shocked me.

Haruka's main manager is the ex-wife of Majima. She was a former idol herself and debuted at 18 but was already married to Majima. But in order to keep her clean image she had to conceal that not only she was married, but she was also of Korean origin, she came from a broken home, and she also got pregnant but got an abortion. Then she and Majima got into a fight and divorced but still maintain some relationship.

Famitsu sent their credibility down the drain ever since they gave Nintendogs the perfect score. Before it there were only 4 perfect games, after it, a ton of them.
