One of the few times I popped in there I remember her talking to this guy saying something along the lines of.

"You shouldn't get GTAIV. You should pre order Mafia 2. It's like GTA but its newer so it's better."

I never see if the guy bought it but he was nodding along agreeing with her.

Tuffty wrote: GAME are in incredibly stubborn shop. If they're not hounding you as you walk in through the door for a sale, then they're just pushing constantly at the sale. What happened to me yesterday as I was buying a game:

"Thanks for buying. Would you be interested in any pre-ordering Halo 4?"

"No thank you."

"Would you be interested in any pre-ordering Call of Duty Black Ops 2?"

"No thank you."

"You sure? We have special pre order bonuses and it's gonna be a massive game."

"I'm fine thanks."

"Ok then. Would you be interested in any pre-ordering Assassins Creed 3?"

"....No. Thank you."

I realise the people there are doing their jobs, they've been told to do it and it's fine to take pride in it, but I wish they would stop being so damn stubborn. We're both humans here, let's just compromise and stop being a corporate shell. Also, it's no wonder they were in trouble. Who in their right mind would pay full RRP of £45 for a game that's been out for 6 months or more. SSX? Black Ops? Fucking FIFA 12, when 13 is out in a few weeks?

The need to be obnoxious in squeezing out every last penny of profit out of people generally marks a decline in the company and often represents an acceleration of an already ongoing downward spiral.

You think they would learn after a while, witnessing it first hand in so many other businesses. It seems to be a testament to how out of touch executives have become with the rank and file consumer.

More Ratchet & Clank goodness apparently.

Looking up more on it, it doesn't seem like it'll necessarily be anything particularly new or groundbreaking, but it's R&C, so I'll likely love it regardless.
Unfortunately it's PSN-only in the US, so I'll have to import from the UK again, like I did with Quest For Booty.

@SC: Haha! In a stereotypical sense you're right, otherwise they'd probably just say they'd get it another time to be nice. Either way, they should employ different tactic dependant on the customer.

@Riku: Yeah, he was probably just bein nice. Again though, shit sales tactic. Telling someone not to buy one product in favour of another could jeapordise both sales. Mafia II should've been an alternative, sayin "If you like GTA IV, then why not pre-order Mafia II, coz the media are already billing it as a better game" or summat along those lines.

@Sonikku: GAME's a franchise, so whilst the executives are still to blame as far as the general direction of the company, it's on the managers to do whatever they can to make the sales, as that is their job. As long as they work within the guidelines set by the higher-ups, it is essentially their shop and it's up to them to do the work.

I only trade-in and buy from my local indie chain. Bought Shenmue and a Dreamcast a few years ago from there for £50.

I think the past few years I have been at my gamer pinnacle. I have been getting so into my games for a while now, where i used to kind of rush through them. I am actually a completion-ist now. And the game that started it all? Persona 3 FES, even though I didnt actually beat it. That game had so many choices and things you could set up outside of your party members for battle purposes and people to see and raise your social link with, and I was so intruiged to explore what the game had to offer. Then about a year later Another game came along that I got sucked into again and that was Fable Lost Chapters on xbox, I just had to do everything there was in that game, even got the frying pan with the 6 slots. And ever since then its like every game I have just played the crap out of. I mean I spent 100 hours between yakuza 1 and 2 for christs sake another honorable mention from last year that threw me back into gaming was Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, I was clutching my PSP for that game. Maybe I am just side quest happy, maybe I am just more devoted to games now that I am older, I am not sure but my love for gaming has re-sparked, despite the fact that I dont really care much for this gen. I mean I have been wanting to build a gaming PC for months and months and I have decided that it will probably be what i get myself for christmas. Long Live Gaming!

I don't think I'm ever gonna beat even the 'easiest' optional stage in Catherine. Doesn't help when the stages are randomised every time.
