It was in Yakuza Dead Souls of all places.

Pops got turned into a mutant octopus after going missing and Goda had to kill him in a huge boss battle. Absolute shock when they revealed that..

Because it may be a joke to you, buy your already bashing people who may think Aeris' storyline was genuinely sad for them. You did it yesterday too with people who genuinely like and use Twitter, but instead of just saying you have an opinion on something, you take it further by calling them names (yesterday) or creating a topic and basically saying people cannot post that what happened to Aeris was sad because you think its funny.

How do you not see that? :???:

Anyways, Shenmue and Majoras Mask are the only two i can think of right now. I will need to come back on this. :-k

Bastion

When you, the player, decide to save Zulf from the rest of the Ura and have to carry him past a crowd of Ura shooting at you and you can't fight back. It's made all the more effective as it's a long path, the music starts to play and you have this sinking feeling the game will end here as you the player, do all you can to make it out of there, using your health potions conservatively when you feel you have to. As you take the last potion you think this is the end and then fewer bolts start to fly, until none at all. It's at that moment you realise that the Ura stopped firing out of respect. That the Kid marched into their homeland to save one of their own, who had even turned on him and yet he still thought he was worth saving. It was an emotional moment that I won't forget.

That one sounded amazing. One more I thought of now is Yakuza 3. It has a few moments.
But I thought first of Rikiya. The way he looked up to Kazuma made further events have a greater impact.

I'm likely the only one who would post this (since most people hated the game), but both endings from Kane & Lynch: Dead Men were pretty big downers.
You get the choice to either escape in a helicopter with Kane's daughter Jenny, who he's been trying to reconnect with through the whole game, or you can take her with you to go save his squad who are under fire in another part of the level.
I've seen these referred to as the "damned if you do, damned if you don't" endings, and that description is totally apt.
If you take the helicopter to immediately escape, then Jenny turns a cold shoulder to Kane and calls him a fucking traitor. Through all his efforts for her, he ultimately ends up doing nothing to get back in her good graces. She still sees him as a traitor, the same man who walked out on her and her mother several years ago.
Alternatively, if he goes to save his squad, she ends up getting shot in the ensuing gunfight. Even worse, Kane only ends up saving one of his squadmates, a guy who doesn't even appreciate Kane's decision to save them in the least. They escape in a boat, and Jenny bleeds to death.

Really just some of the bleakest options possible to end the game with.

You guys are reading way too much into nothing. I don't know about any Twitter topic, and it doesn't matter, this topic is fine. It's obviously his opinion because he wrote it, who cares.

The ending of Rogue Galaxy, when this song starts to play:

No spoilers, I just get teary eyed when any great adventure comes to an end. Especially with a whimsical song like that.

Fragile Dreams. The Entire game pulls at your emotions and the entire thing is tragic. The ending is so bittersweet. I never seen a game put so much hope and charm into so much hopelessness and sorrow. It really got me about Crow. The ending prologue had me in tears. All that after all that....it doesn't last. WTF!? The salesman...WOW...that was sad but disturbing.

For me it was:

Metal Gear Solid 3
When Snake salutes the grave, and the overall ending narration

Mass Effect 3
Mordin's more positive death scene (the one where he goes up the elevator)

The kid too, besides it being a possible indoctrination

Half Life 2 Episode 2
Eli's death at the end

Final Fantasy X-2
The ending made me upset because I knew it was over...

Shenmue 2
Do I even need to say...

That is all I can recall right now.

Parts of Yakuza 3 and 4 can get very emotional.

The MGS 3 ending made me legitimately sad

Shenmue 2's ending for reasons like I can't play this game any further

I think some parts of Heavy Rain too

Hmmm Final Fantasy X

when Splinter Cell conviction was born.

Or a tiny sidequest in Nier when you go searching for an old, dying man's Dog who has run away into the wilderness.. ....and you find it dead with an antidote in its mouth

^^The Nier one was pretty heartbreaking.
Sure, it's just a little text-based sidequest, but you still kind of expect it to turn out differently.
