Could always use more GiTS. Just I'm not sold on the Major's new look. Seems too teenage like.

Written by Tow Ubukata? I have faith. Trust me, you aren't going to get a better writer than him on this project.

I'm just saying, if you want somebody who knows futuristic sci-fi working on the project, then there's very few writers in Japan who know cyberpunk as well as him (he's written various cyberpunk novels). Just a bit of trivia for you, the game Chaos Legion is based on one of his novels.

I was hoping it was a season 3 of Stand Alone Complex. Guess that was a pipe dream given the years apart.

IMO the second film sucked. First is ok but SAC really set the standard IMO.

I think the only thing I really don't like about ghost in the shell is how they depict the Major's uniform and outfits as just being such a skimpy skank. Fan service is all well and good, but in a show that takes itself so seriously, it can contribute towards breaking the immersion when she's wearing little more than a coat over a bikini and none of the guys in the room get snarky or so much as make a comment about it. The Major herself doesn't act like a slut, which makes the choice of wardrobe seem downright ridiculous. It cheapens her strong will, serious, respectable character somewhat by depicting her as a whore. Can you imagine all the guys in her unit wearing similarly skimpy "uniforms"?

In the manga didn't she basically fuck anything that moved? I think in SAC she offered herself to a kid

^^No, she didn't fuck anything that moves. There's one sex scene, but it's with girls she clearly has a long-term relationship with.
And in SAC, the kid asks if she's able to have sex with her body being completely artificial like it is, and she asks if he cares to find out. But she does it with a grin, knowing that he'll back down out of shyness.
So no, she's not a "slut" in any version of it. The outfits just stem from Masamune Shirow's propensity toward designing skimpy clothes.

Anyway, hard to get all that excited about this. Stand Alone Complex was a wonderful collaboration of all the right people. Everything about it was just right.
Unless Kenji Kamiyama or Yoko Kanno have a hand in this, it just stands as one big "wait and see" for me.
To me, it's like doing Cowboy Bebop without Shinichiro Watanabe.
Could it be good?
Maybe.
Will I be immediately excited?
Probably not.
Have to see results first.

She fucked me. Several times. I called The Puppetter and asked him to mess with her cybernetic eyes making her believe I was all those girls.

Plus the Major makes skanky into a class act. Repent, you dog.

First trailer like the music, still don't like her design.
Second trailer can do without the lesbo porn music. This no doubt is a prequel. Maybe as the first trailer hints at. Her first time in a cyborg body.

So it's in the same timeline as SAC, it just takes place before the series?
For some reason that makes me a little more interested. And since it is supposed to be a younger version of the Major, I don't mind the design at all.

Certain things are still a little odd though. The second video indicates the presence of Togusa, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. He was still sort of newly-recruited to Section 9 at the beginning of SAC, and by the Major personally no less (indicating that she must have already been high up in the organization at the time). Why is he here if this show takes place before she's even established with Section 9?
I hope there's no retconning going on.

And the whole idea of a prequel to it is still a little... iffy to me. I always kind of liked that we don't have a strict timeline about the characters' backgrounds and lives. We learn things about their pasts, but don't explicitly see their progression.
So yeah, still a bit of a "wait and see".
But I am a good deal more interested now.

^ what OL said. Also should add that Saito should not be present either
since the first time he and the Major met, it was on the battlefield as enemies. In Mexico no less.
