has anyone ever noticed the little concrete pillar with a red cross on the top? its located in dobuita at the exit leading to sakuragaoka (near liu barber). its on the ground near the stone wall, on the right just as you turn the corner.
is it a marker of some kind?

I always thought it was some kind of marker too. Could be for gas or water pipes.
Or maybe it's some kind of milestone.

Once upon a time, I made some crazy remarks about that...

Yup, it's a survey peg which is used in Japan to mark out land boundaries. Here's a photo of an actual one.


I didn't notice this was in the game - I wonder if there are any more.

Once again, Shenmue marvels with its attention to detail.

I've heard someone mention this in the comments on one of my videos. Didn't know about this either, since it's so situational. Ryo usually refuses to spend the money in the first place, so he can always pay for the bus.

I've heard someone mention this in the comments on one of my videos. Didn't know about this either, since it's so situational. Ryo usually refuses to spend the money in the first place, so he can always pay for the bus.

when ryo is at the harbour and he is low on money he will refuse to buy anything that will bring his funds below that necessary to buy a return ticket (and I assume when he is in the work day cycle this amount will also need to provide cost of purchasing the tickets for the following day, but I don't know that for sure).

I assume the video is showing the player not having enough money for a ticket prior to starting work. the player would have to wait until the following day and receive his allowance before being able to buy the ticket

On any other point in the game I tried this, Ryo would either not allow me to get on the bus or not allow me to spend enough money. Like I said earlier. It's very situational.

Has anybody had the balls to wait for the bus, not get on it when it arrives, and simply wait around for the next bus?

I think many Shenmue fans have thought about this but have not been insane enough to try it.

Amazing, AM2 have studied every possibility to keep the realism unbroken lol. If Shenmue was a normal game, it would have still been an automatic teleportation at the curfew regardless of money.

[...] My most favourite moment is when Ryo found herbs while walking and tell Shenhua about it. He picks them up and gave them to Shenhua; she is very grateful, to the point that she try to give a kiss to Ryo! :heart: So adorable and cute. However, Ryo makes an uncomfortable facial expression, stands back and then says that they better move on. Shenhua follows him and giggles cutely for a moment. Haha. - She is definitely the future love interest of Ryo. After all, at some point Ryo mentions about the girl he is seeing in his dreams, during a discussion (I think) with Fangmei about love (or something similar).
