How to set up my laptop to stream iPlayer...

Could anyone help me out with a way to get the BBC iPlayer to work on my laptop and phone? Websites tell me different things and i cant work it out. It wont work since i am outside the UK, but im in a British Commonwealth ffs.

Any of my Dojo tekkies help me out with a walkthrough?

Probably needs the latest adobe flash. Also mobile platforms have all but dropped support for flash.
Also sometimes on flash sites Adblock can prevent something from playing so disable it if that's the case.

EDIT so I just tried it on my laptop and when with Chrome as my browser no video would play. When I disabled Adblock it played.

So yeah turn off Adblock and maybe update adobe. Mobiles. They don't support flash.

No its IP based. BBC know i am not in the UK and it k ows that from my IP number. It starts up but gives me.the message it is only available in the UK so i need a workaround.

You tried a proxy site? And is it for Wimbledon?

Pretty sure you can get browser addon's that make sites think you're from a certain area.

A quick search shows that Media Hint is a decent one for iplayer.

android phones with ICS, that is Android version 4.0 or greater, don't officially support flash there are ways to install it.

about half way down, there is a list of apk's for android. Download it and install the latest version

These kinds of browser addon's work for things like Netflix and Hulu too, which is handy if you're a UK citizen wanting to watch some American TV shows.
