The loop-de-loop in the background suggests it might at least be a step towards "proper" Sonic instead of "adopted pets in a human city" Sonic like the last series.

Either that or just a straight up adaptation of Archie Comics' Sonic. Honestly, I was never a fan of the story told by the games. They were always secondary and very simple, and when they tried making them more complex they weren't very good.

No kidding. Sega NEVER knew what they were doing when it came to the story for Sonic. And their constant opposition to the Archie storylines and its characters quite pisses me off when they go out and create shitty characters like Blaze, Silver, and Princess Elise and try to push them into the canon. Especially when I found out Sonic was supposed to have a human girlfriend called Madonna in the first game. Seriously, WTF. They are the George Lucas of videogames.

Some of the Archie stories were quite good. I already liked Sonic as a kid but those stories made me LOVE the character. It strengthened the mythology in some instances and even made Sonic the bad guy for one series which I LOVED. Even the TV show, SatAM, was pretty good.

Not sure about this show. All I can say i'm not interested in it for now.

Too fucking right! I remember Sonic beating the first Robotnik. They both blinked out of existence for a couple of pages in that fight. And when you thought that was it, Sonic pops out of a ring like a fucking boss. That is some epic shit right there. Especially for a ten year old.

I liked the way it was setup on the show and in the comics: Dr. Ivo Robotnik is is real name and Eggman is his nickname. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. You have the best of both worlds there. I think it's just another attempt to distance itself from its Western adaptation, total nonsense.

And was that fight from Issue #50? I have the comic, I remember loving how it went except for the ending with Sally. Kinda cringe worthy there. Mecha Madness is still one of my favorite comics ever and it's highly influential on how I approach stories.

I think it was #50. I've got a bunch of the comics in a shoebox somewhere. All I remember is it was the first time he gets killed.

I'm pretty sure Robotnik still is his name, they hinted at the transition in Sonic Adventure 2. Either way, I've read some of the Archie comics, and STC kicked the shit out of em. Just sayin.

Meh. Sonic Underground had more personality than this crap will have. It looks to be done in the same vein as the awful 11 minute teen titans shorts currently on CN, utterly a shadow of the depth it's main show had. I'm picturing the same kind of brain dead slapstick and bumbling incompetent villains we see in so many shows aiming for the lowest common denominator in children. Kids today don't even know what in hell a Sonic the Hedgehog even is. They might better have made something for the fans.

It's irrelevant if less kids today know what Sonic is then the ones from yesteryear. Kids probably didn't know what TMNT was and they still had a hit TV show and CG movie. Same with Transformers. You need to strike middle ground in order to achieve success.

The stuff we had when we were kids was childish but they weren't patronizing. They need to do the same to make this show a hit, to appeal to both kids and adults.
