A korean fan remastering Shenmue I locations.

Postby Esppiral » Sun Aug 17, 2014 2:08 pm

As title says a korean Shenmue Fan is upgrading/remastering, Shenmue locations, I do read HD remaster there but I don't Know if he refers to remaster the whole game or just the environments

Even if I am pretty sure this will never be finished, it's worth seeing his videos,

Well that was very interesting to watch. Pretty damn impressive for a fan project. Definately went further then all the other attempts at recreating Dobuita or the Hazuki house and whatnot. I hope that this will reach playable status in some kind of form and doesn't just get abandoned like all the other projects...

I'm curious on what engine/enviroment this is running on. Definately a faithful recreation with some nicely improved textures and models here and there. The lighting also does it's job pretty well.

The arcade, I don't know. It's really impressive how the screens acutally display the games in motion. I guess that's still not so easy to do with this quality and so many of them. But it's overfilled in my opinion. No Yuji Nito to attend the machines, no plants, no Space Harrier, no QTE machines, no Darts... The cabinets are also way to streamlined. I'd much prefer an arcade with big deluxe cabinets and a lot more variation.

Such an excellent job. Some of these fans need to be hired, it's happened with other projects and has been beneficial (343 Studio).

Fantastic work!

Btw, the intro text on the video says he made it using Unreal Engine. His goal is to (eventually) reconstruct all the locations of Shenmue I.

It's crazy how one can sit down and actually do this...
Considering how much money Sega put into making the original game, it is amazing what 1 person can do with a little bit of time on their hands.

Fuck I need this. Even if not a full recreation it would be amazing if he/she were to open-source it and allow other fans to use it for fan-games.

Can't we just focus on this thread? viewtopic.php?f=48&t=47176
And Kiyuu said that it's running on Unreal.
