At least there's a potential for the sound team to be really good since Rockstar North's games always has featured top of the line sound (GTA soundtracks, their game's voice acting etc).

Even though he is just a sound designer and wrote dialogue it's really a great sign. Someone like him would be a pretty good adition to a new Shenmue team, making the dialogue more "compatible" with western audience.

It doesn't really surprise me, personally. These are game developers and normally they play a lot of games (not just for fun, but also for research on their projects/concepts), so there's probably more fans of Shenmue in the industry than we might think, especially people who work or have already worked on open world games, Shenmue is an influential game in a lot of ways, such as the game within a game concept, which I don't think had really been done before it and the more detailed date/time/changing weather system.
