This moment is why I hated the lack of dub in the Dreamcast version. It was an extremely all shot scene, imo, and very atmospheric. I was tryna take the whole thing in, and was barely paying attention to the subtitles. "Yeah, yeah, three blades, heard it all before... There has to be a QTE coming up... Ha! Knew it. Wait... What? Took me at least 3 tries, and then I remembered reading something about a trick QTE in Shenmue 2 and the possibility dawned on me. Had I not been inadvertently tipped off, who knows how many more times would I have failed.

I played on the dub, so I kind of knew I shouldn't... but then I got paranoid and did it anyway, then learned the second time.

Then I came back to it a few years later and did the same thing, because I had totally forgotten. D'oh! Think it's etched in my mind now at least.

I remember when I was 9 years old (11 years ago) and I got to this part and it took me 3 weeks to figure out that you were not supposed to press A, and how i figured it out was I raged and decided that I would not press A at all. Then I was shocked to pass it.

I pressed it. Multiple times. It took me a few tries to get what I was doing wrong.

Well I guess everyone pressed it the first time. Even the English dub wouldn't help that much. By this time players of Shenmue and Shenmue II are trained to react to the on screen buttons. And they have it flash on there for sooo long.
The were really clever with this QTE, really screws your gaming instincts over.

I only pressed it once. I figured out the gimmick right after that. I'm surprised that my 10 year old self had that much awareness.

I pressed it twice. First time I had thought I hadn't pressed it fast enough. After pressing it the second time (with god-like speed), I realized what to do... and was a little angry, to be honest. Not necessarily at the game, or even at myself, but just a little angry nonetheless.

I want to say one of the holes in my bedroom wall is from a dreamcast controller being thrown at it. This scene may or may not be the reason for it.
