What in the world happened with the KS today?

Postby Jackie Fhan » Sun Jun 28, 2015 9:04 am

It actually seemed to have lost money at one point. 12 hours to go in this day and it's only made arond 1,000 according to the tracker.

Man, I really hope they can get awards and some kind of publicity that works. After the big day on Friday, I didn't think this would happen. Hope they make move for more rewards soon.

Awesome Japan are fucking shit, and are not promoting it at all, so it's tanking.

The twitch stream is what happened, a killing blow to our chances of getting new people to pledge.

And people say we shouldn't get mad at Awesome Crappan...

When we got $25000 I was half joking about the decline and wondered when we would hit zero. We're not far of now.
But I don't think at all that it is because of the stream itself. Rather the campaign in general. It needs to be more in people's faces. As of now they're coasting after that huge start, waiting things out a little too much. Sending polls etc. is nice for the existing fanbase but there doesn't seem to be a plan to attract new people. Unfortunately, that is what we really need to sustain a campaign since most die hard fans have likely already done what they can at this point.

Just left a comment on the kickstarter saying Awesome Japan needs to step their shit up. I am sure it will be buried in all the rest of the comments....

No social media presence and they also take weekends off. I don't care if they need to "rest". When I screw up an assignment at work or I'm behind, I take some time on the weekend to work. If they're working on some massive front page overhaul and social media attack plan, then I'll eat my words. But they're not. They're lazy and they're not very good at their job.

Posting a couple Twitter updates and sending out an update to backers regarding information from the Twitch isn't even that much work.

I think we just have to accept Awesome Japan is terrible, Shenmue doesn't have as many diehard fans as we think and focus on the positive: at least we hit the $2 million threshold and Sony's support was worth its weight in gold.

I think this is the point we seriously need to approach YSnet with the idea of firing them. At this point Awesome Japan are about as useful as having literally nobody run the campaign, so even if it's a bit rocky during the transition, literally anything is better than letting these fuckwits bring the kickstarter to a grinding halt.

Admins of ShenmueDojo, Shenmue500K, TeamYu and every other Shenmue fansite need to step up and make it known that this isn't acceptable - fuck, float the idea of us doing it for free. Absolutely anything is better than Awesome Japan cutting a check for this shite.

19 days to go. It's still the moment to fire them. I wish.
