They should just have a fire sale on these new tiers since they're limited and max out their backers while there's still time. Fishing rod? $300-500 + 10 backers. Not a horrible profit considering it'll cost them neither time nor effort to plug someone's name into the game. I really don't get why they're pricing these things so high.

It's likely not going to look intrusive at all. I'm guessing that most of this stuff you wouldn't even notice as being part of a kickstarter if you weren't already aware.

Also consider no one's paying $4,500 to name a vendor.

1 person has backed the palm reading thing, which I can't imagine will be significant at all.

1 person remains in the Lucky Hit tier. I won't be surprised if that drops to 0 on the last day.

I suppose getting a bunch of random dices and capsule toys with people you don't know's faces might suck, but hey, they're just capsule toys.

The I Am Shenmue tier still has quite a few backers, but I think you'll have to actually actively look for people's photos to even notice it.

To be honest does it matter to you if a fishing rod is called "Longstick of Jerry" vs calling it "fishing rod n3" ?? or if the black suited guys you beat in a couple of seconds have brown hair instead of black ? (even lan di's henchmen in the first game are western looking, as a lot of the black suits in the second game).

Most of these things actually make the game funnier in some sense, and are not intrusive at all.

I just think they went a little overpriced for a job that requires little effort on their part (and from a backer perspective/value don't make much sense).

I completely agree with you. It's like people forgot how quirky the first two games actually were. Yeah, Cool Z was a pretty regular chap.

If you want to get sappy about it, just think about this in-game inclusion of the Shenmue fans as representing the incredible strength of the Shenmue community though the constant efforts made towards making Shenmue III a reality. These fans slowly becoming a part of the game they've desired for so long -- a bitter sweet understanding that their dream is coming to an end, not through ultimate defeat, but instead though its own realization.

And you had a photo store on SII that people don't even gave a shit, it makes even funnier to see real people.

For example it's more interesting to see what real people write in a logbook than nothing at all (for example).

The capsule toys can be a little intrusive, but then again, does it matter if one capsule is "mariana dice" vs "the cat from the harbor" ? It's almost an easter egg, and people tend to love those.
