Left one rotates/moves Snake, right one moves the first/third-person camera.
In Metal Gear Solid 1? That isn't true at all. MGS1 only used left analog stick, and the camera wasn't movable. The only way to "move" the camera was to stand up against a wall or go into fps view.
Dual analog set up didn't get common until 2001.Bambi wrote: What I find weird is that I still used the d-pad to control my forklift even when the analogue stick is available. It would seem the better choice but I kept hitting walls when I tried to use it.
The dpad is much better for the forklift, whether doing regular work or racing.
It's been a while since I've played MGS, and the first thing I saw when I googled it indicated that it used both analog sticks. That must have been for the HD collection or something. Regardless, the DualShock was still a more versatile controller and had much better analog sticks. On top of that, the top-down view in MGS limited its planes of motion and allowed more fluidity with less advanced controls. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who doesn't care for the DualShock controller. Even if it's pretty basic, I love the Dreamcast controller and have never had an issue with the control scheme of Shenmue.
