nahh!
meaning only so many finite like LTD-EDIT retail prints on relz?
i fuckin hope not.
no reason both types couldn't be an option to the cust....gamer, the retail print and a dlc archive. (LTD-EDITS/specials are their own thing and not counted here.)
it true, anybody who's able to back at the start should be given the 'special' package, and those seeing a game to grab has the option.
...
i know i wouldn't sleep well knowing the continuation was forced to dlc alone bullshit, one reason i'm NOT in 'that' game. (dlc as general addon is also not a concern, it's when it's demanded to complete the game, a sort of FREEMIUM that has it's own limitations for obvious reasons...like server no longer online, that sort of thing.) :P

No I meant they can buy both physical or downloadable. When it goes for sale.(Chapter 6 only)

People would need to pledge again to get the next chapter or else they have to buy it latter as downloadble content.
Yeah is asking to much for Shenmue to be like star citizen.

But sadly Shenmue is not a big franchise and Yu have to rely on milking fans now.
I am hoping that Sega funds Shenmue or else this is not looking good.

This just an idea if Yu decide that Shenmue III is the final game only.

I am hoping they made 1 or 2 more games after and that we see the full vision of what Shenmue was to be.

But Shenmue III going to have 4 Big boss this probably mean just guessing.
Yu is compressing Shenmue at 3x as much as he did with Shenmue II.

Shenmue 1 only had 1 big boss fight Chai unless 70 man battle counts as another big boss fight? or only Chai

Shenmue II had only Dou Niu and maybe Baihu as big boss fights ? or only Dou Niu

I do hope so that it was translation mistake or that Yu meant something else.

But compressing a story that was suppose to be 3 more games into one is an aweful idea.

It would mean rewriting the whole story and removing 2/3 of future locations and story....
or Making areas a lot more smaller than originally planned and less detail with less story.

What I really want is
Shenmue 3-Chapter 6-7
Shenmue 4-Chapter 8-9
Shenmue 5-Chapter 10-11

or
What I expect if things didn't go well.
Shenmue 3 Chapter 6-7-8
Shenmue 4 Chapter 9-10-11

I don't want. That only has 3 locations to end the game....
Shenmue 3 Chapter 6-7-8-9-10-11

What I love about Shenmue is exploring new locations. The game ending with exploring just 3 new rural towns would destroy the experience for me.

If that's what you call guessing, please stop trying to use your brain, you'll hurt your self.

Having multiple bosses doesn't mean anything negative(plenty of games do it, and still get sequels) If this means anything at all, it is that Yu is trying to make a ending to Shenmue 3, that can even compete with the ending to the past games, and a Infiltration Quest leading up to a 4 boss ending, definitely sounds like it will fit the bill nicely.

As I’ve explained as much before, Sega actually has numerous in house development teams that continue to release new games regularly. A few of Sega's in house developed games include Sonic Generations (one of the best Sonic games made in the last decade), Valkryia Chronicles (from the team behind Skies of Arcadia, Yakuza Zero (released only a couple of months ago) and Chain Chronicle (a mobile game and one of the most popular JRPGs in the world. This is in addition to Sega's western development teams; where Total War, Company of Heroes and Football Manager are all some of the best-selling and most renowned strategy games on PC.

These examples are only handful of the great franchise that Sega develops internally. Even the Miku Hatsune games, which you so casually malign, have been developed internally at Sega. In fact, Sega is the company that created Miku’s CGI model that’s used both in the games and Miku’s live concerts where she appears in the physical world as a hologram. If anything Sega has more influence over the future of the vocaloid phenomenon then Sony does at this point. When you think about it, vocaloids are an extention of the same strategy of celebrity endorsement that Sega has been using since the 90s. When once it was Michael Jackson promoting Sega products now it’s Miku Hatsune doing the same thing.

I keep thinking Valkerie Chronicles as Valkyrie Profiles(which is Square, well not really, but is labeled such), my bad thought they were part of the same series, although they might as well be sigh. I see the merit in it, and all, don't get me wrong(and Valkyrie Chronicles specifically has a cool art style), but I don't like modern tech in my tactic games.

You're mixing me up with someone else, I didn't even know a game called Miku or whatever even existed. Although considering Vocoloid is very frowned upon from people who actually care about quality music, probally not the best choice Sega.

I think you can surmise where I would tell Sega to shove their mobile games, so I'm gonna pretend you never even listed a mobile game.

It's a pity that you don't acknowledge how important mobile games have become to the industry. Already mobile gaming is the most lucrative segment in the entire industry, in terms of sheer revenue. Suffice to say, Sega was one of the first big publishers to see the potential of mobile and is now reaping huge profits as a result. Mobile gaming might have once been a trouble platform but technological advancements now make it possible for mobile games to offer a range of gameplay experiences to match anything available on a dedicated handheld console. Of course there are still bad mobile games but there are also truly great games as well, with Sega being responsible for many of these great mobile games.

As for Miku Hatsune, I mentioned her because you agreed with an earlier post that attacked vocaloids and vocaloids, to make the whole thing seem something untoward. Now, while I don’t consider myself a vocaloid fan I do admire the artfulness of the whole project, the converging technologies which have created truly unique musical performances. Traditionalists may balk at a performer that is actually a voice synthesiser combined with a hologram but they can no more stop the rise of Miku Hatsune then they could the advent of the vinyl record player. Today Miku Hatsune is one of Sega’s most powerful allies, which gives Sega a huge advantage when it comes to celebrity endorsements.

So to further illustrate my point, to counter that obnoxious video posted earlier. Here’s a recording of a live Miku Hatsune concert:

Vocaloids have come a long way and are now a respected artistic medium.

No way, shape or form, are mobile crap, part of the industry, Sega can go to hell, along with Konami for all I care, if Sega starts focusing on mobile.

No one in the VG industry would ever consider Mobile lucrative, especially compared to making real games.

All it is, is it looks better on paper, because profit "percent" is naturally higher since mobile games cost nothing to make, but that doesn't translate to more actual money worth the profits. You would think, the fact companies have to downsize when going to the mobile market, would give them a god damn hint, but all they care about, is tricking shareholders into thinking that profits are up.

saw some sort of stereotype explanation for categorizing so-called WEEBOOS!
fuckin AWESOME!
that said, i'm one, and stand PROUD and GUILTY! (guilty WEEBOO!)
...
draw the line at trying to nail a hologram, or tug over an animation. :P (i looked up otaku, and a lot don't really understand on the surface what it really refers too. right?! if weeboos were 'otakus' we'd see a LOT more 'reports' on events regarding the anime culture spilling over to prisons.)
...
as for :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P hatsune miku :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P (we need an animated tonguey smiley) games, i strongly recommend some mind-melders/warpers/benders, and see if anybody can keep up without going into subspace and watching the walls of the house fall away to reveal the cosmos.
some of the vids have a fair health warning, for epilepsy reasons, and playing a measly few of the game-vids, i almost mc-hammered out into convulsions. (and i play acid games like tempestx3, rez, fantavison, child of eden, and many more just for the high paced action and colours.)
BLISS!

Hmm, how did this thread about a update, turn into a discussion about craptastic at best games, that has Sega's name slapped on it?

Well anyway on topic, it would have been nice certain things Yu supposedly mentioned, went into more detail(the life story of how the KS was handled in general right there sigh).

Oh come on. The language used is poorly-worded at best.
“However, we cannot finish with just one chapter in one region, so I had to restructure the story to fit within the scope of Shenmue III.”

Face it, that sh*t is vague enough to mean anything, including condensing Shenmue’s remaining story into Shenmue III. Look at the flow-chart’s “explanation” for crying out loud: the composition stage has to do with the story; the story stage has to do with flow; the flow stage has to do with composition. The f*ck? I want some of what he’s been smoking.

Thankfully Yokosuka was kind enough to re-retweet THIS little gem:

Round of applause for Awesome Japan’s confusion-inducing mess of an “interview” (i.e. a poorly-translated e-mail questionnaire with no follow-up) =D>

As far as I know, it has always been clear in Yu Suzuki's mind that Shenmue 3 would not be the last Shenmue.

I've read about it during KS campaign interview to Suzuki San:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ys ... ts/1283666

Q4; Now that we know Shenmue 3 will not end the Story, do you have a backup plan if it won´t succeed to tell the end?

A; I'm going to have to think about having a successor.

...And Cédric Biscay confirmed it in an interview from july 2015:
http://www.gameblog.fr/interview_891_ce ... -vu-/page2

Now that the KS is on its way, can we have a clear answer about the fact that Shenmue 3 will conclude or not the saga? Are they plans to carry on with Shenmue 4 or 5?

I think Yu Suzuki already stated that Shenmue 3 would NOT be the end of the saga, but on another hand, we can't expect multiples épisodes. The goal isn't to endlessly make Shenmue games but IS to conclude the story.

Can we expect new Kickstarter campaigns for the next games?

It's unlikely but it's still an option. Shenmue 3 needed a KS campaign because nobody wanted to take the chance to produce the game for the past 14 years. This situation should not repeat.

...

In your opinion and considering the KS success, do you think SEGA will finally do something about HD versions of the two first games?

I sincerelly hope it. They are the only ones who can decide about that, but we try our best to push them in this direction.
