There's plenty if time for any rereleases to come.

I agree, it will be a good opportunity for a new generation to be introduced to Shenmue. However for timing it depends if SEGA do a Shenmue 1 & 2 Kiwami.. then that's a fair bit of development work. If SEGA announced Shenmue 1 & 2 Kiwami.. before Shenmue 3, then released them after Shenmue 3, I'd be OK with that.

For a standard HD remaster, if it's an renderer upscale to 1080p and aspect 16:9, this would be the minimal work required, but they could also rework all the textures to ensure the upscale doesn't look too muddy.

Release Shenmue HD by the begining of 2016 and then release Shenmue 2 HD by the end of the year. Then you can even milk a few extra bucks with a physical release package like Resident Evil Origins Collection.

Don't you think it depends mostly on HOW they work with the remaster of Shenmue 1 & 2?
They didn't age so badly in my opinion, did they?

Anyway, I don't see how releasing Shenmue 3 prior to the remasters could help the sales.

Don't see how the re releases will hurt Shenmue 3 game sales. If anything its free publicity.

I can't argue that. But the fact Shenmue 3 is now a reality gives hope to some renewed optimism. Shenmue 3 is only 4 months old, I am happy to be patient and see if anything comes of it.

If not? Meh, who cares, we are getting Shenmue 3 anyways.

I know we're reading tea leaves here, but there's no denying they're possibly dropping hints all over the place now:

lol I just saw this on my twitter feed, and instantly read it as only "Time to play Shenmue". I lost my shit so quick that I didn't read the rest :D!

This is the first time they have commented on Shenmue in so long, let alone fucking #'d it lol.

Come on Sega, step up to the plate, and drop that bomb!

I wouldn't be so hard on lower level guys at Sega Europe; it's obvious these guys love games like Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia and such games are most likely the reason why they went to work for the company, but at the end of the day decisions like these aren't up to them, have to be approved by higher ups in Japan, etc. If they don't comment on them, they're accused of being deaf to fan's requests, if they do comment on them and plans don't come to pass they're accused of being arseholes.

But we can always hope they know something that we don't. Like when Yu tweeted that forklift when he wasn't supposed to.

Like I wrote over on my site, this is just their way of acknowledging us. They don't have anything to announce, they've been super busy preparing for PGW 2015 and, honestly, I'm surprised we got this much so quick.

I appreciate the answer.
