I'm just using the current sale price of $3.99 just as a consistent number to predict revenue. Just as it's been lower than $3.99, it's been higher too. 50% off seemed like a nice number to compromise on for a low-ball revenue figure, and even then that revenue figure is being very liberal with predictions about how many ownerships came from free giveaways.

I don't know if SEGA were expecting a bigger money-spinner, but given SEGA's existential crisis in 2012 I wouldn't discount that executive panic and serious downsizing killed the SEGA Heritage Collection regardless of any factor of success.

Just some things I heard whilst in Japan that add to the logic of it all. No, that is not me saying I was told Shenmue HD will be announced.

It's logical if Sony want to make money from the franchise, that they would throw a few million for a studio to remaster them. They want to make money at the end of the day. So do YSNET and so to do Sega. Even if they are not remasters, the original 2 games will be released in some capacity, I have no doubts.

I have to say, Peter, that your optimistic and enthusiastic posts always get my Shenmue hype train back up to full speed. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to hold out until next June and/or beyond (still holding out hope for the HD remasters soon) before going for a replay.

I'm gonna have to get an HDMI modded Gamecube and replay Legends due to all this talk of Skies. Man I loved that game. I can still hear the Ixa'Taka theme in my head, and remember going down the slide lol.

In 1080p native mode, Skies of Arcadia is still one of the best looking games of the world.

I prefer not to use emulation, personally. But thank-you.

As Peter said, Shenmue HD will be made for sure.

At least from logical point, you have all hype going everywhere about Shenmue 3, so you have already basic marketing done for you Its a win-win situation, SEGA cant loose money on this, because hd remakes doesnt cost much. And SEGA have to release it before SIII because if third part wont be as good as first two, then they will loose momentum for releasing HD.

Right now at E3 2017 is the perfect point to announce it. Its not like in, lets say, 2013 when shenmue was in 'forgotten gem' state.

I dont believe in remake, SI can be considered, but SII size is even now can be compared to some AAA titles. And if we take two games - its a totally huge world to make.

These domains were registered four months ago, at the same time that Sega Europe's COO Jurgen Post was coming forward to explain that while the idea of releasing new versions of Shenmue 1 & 2 had their "full attention," they were not yet able to greenlight the project due to complications with product licensing.
A third of a year later, there has been no further news apart from this belated discovery of two domain names registered within days of those particular comments.
(Some sites are mistakenly reporting that the domain records have been recently updated. The date they are reading is the last refresh date of the WHOIS database - basically the last time the record was checked for changes, not the last time there were any.)

IMO, I see a positive side: the gaming press will question @SEGA_Europe again about ShenmueHD & maybe we'll get a new statement/status
