The reason for the sky high price on the blu-rays is because they are an imported item straight from Japan. It seems no one at Sunrise has had the brilliant idea of releasing an awesome, and profitable blu-ray set set in the West.

The first episode is out now, and surprise surprise, it's yet another separate continuity. So no worries about how it all ties in to the other series'. I suppose that's better than it being a straight prequel to GitS:SAC
